    Hi,

Okay this migt sound crazy but ever since my bf said we'll be getting engaged soon (2 years tops) I have been desperate to start thinking and planning the wedding - I know, it sounds like I'm nutty but I think personally it's because I love being creatve - I love designing things etc and I think that's why I'm so excited.

Just wondered if I'm alone in this or if there's other Bees who felt the same (gonna try to turn it into a poll, sorry in advance if I fail)

yea I'm not engaged yet but we are talking about the wedding happening this summer/fall so I'm already planning just nothing official (except I DID order his ring with an amazon giftcard I had, lol)

Haha I've been reading wedding books and watching wedding shows since I was little (: It definitely got more serious though when we moved in together. I'll start 'offically' planning once we get engaged.

We always knew we were going to get married, it was just a matter of when.  I wanted to be done with school, and we ended up buying a home first, so I knew it was going to happen for awhile, but I wasn't in a rush to hurry up and get married.  We started looking at venues (online only) probably 6 months before the "official" engagement, and we booked our venue 4 months after the "official" engagement.  Funny that the venue we chose was one of the venues I looked at online with my mom before the engagment, and had discarded because I thought it was too expensive!

@Scottish_lassie: Don't worry. I was planning before we got engaged too, once it was clear that we would be. Everyone treated me like I was crazy! I so wish I'd found this place before we got engaged (although I was on a bunch of UK forums and they got used to me).

@Scottish_lassie:  This one is tricky.  I didn't start research vendors until he proposed, BUT we been talking and discussing ideas way before the proposal.

@Scottish_lassie: PS If you want any help with anything, I've been a wedding uber geek for the past two years, so I'm quite up on vendors.

@SpecialSundae: Aw thanks, that's very sweet :-) It's hard to really start without a budget idea so I'm basically just researching average costs etc - am really shocked by the average costs of weddings in the UK - I was planning to spend less than half that!

When I finally got engaged this past September I went to my 'wedding folder' and had newspaper clippings from 2008! While I never had vendors or anything picked out I was constantly looking at wedding stuff and had sites bookmarked and lots of pictures saved with ideas. I had already gone through 3 invitation designs by the time he proposed (after 5-1/2 years!)

I've been reading The Bee since it was on XANGA... three relationships ago. I haven't really planned anything, but reading the blog has actually helped me plan events for my job and come up with some awesome crafts. I more of skipped logistic, invites, and some other planning posts and focused on posts on relationships and dress porn!

Okay, so I nearly caved already lol managed not to but I did work out how long my wait is in days :-S I know, I'm insane lol. Think I just need something to distract me, so I'm planning to set myself NWR tasks to do to pass the time - like joining a gym, doing volunteer work, etc with deadlines and weekly timetables. I start first thing today (it's like 1.20am here but I mean after 9am lol)

    It's kinda hard to answer.

I started looking at wedding websites and searching around for ideas right after he proposed. But I didn't techinically "plan" anything until after we set a date. As in, no decisions were made, no appts made, nothing picked out or purchased until after the date was set.

I'm not engaged yet (SO has the ring, but is waiting for the perfect moment he has planned, which he promises is very soon) I haven't booked anything, or even called vendors. But I have started looking at inspiration photos online, thinking colour scheme, possible themes, guestlist, overall atmosphere I'm looking for etc.  HYe even mentions certain elements he would like, let's me know about the connections he has with possible friendors and what he would like for the day, were eye to eye on everything, but the official planning doesn't start till I get the ring, so we'll see if were still eye to eye lol. Were thinking either Feb or Nov 2013, really leaning to Feb.

@Future_Ms.Bostonceltics: I have to say I think it's really nice that you know he has the ring and is planning to propose soon; it sounds like a lovely situation to be in :-)

once FI and I had the "this relationship is heading toward marriage" talk I started thinking about how I wanted everything and gathering inspiration, but I didn't actually start planning until he proposed and we set a date.

I started looking at wedding websites when we had picked out my ring. I didn't start actually planning until after the proposal..... very soon after lol. I already knew exactly what I wanted. But, I was not one of those girls who dreamed of her wedding when she was younger or her prince charming.

I found out around xmas he bought the ring, he knew I was hoping for a proposal so he confessed that he's got it but it wasn't the right time. He's got this thing against nye and xmas proposals, he thinks their cheesy so he's planning something else. It's nice because I know I'm getting it soon, but still don't know exactly when so the element of surprise is still there.

We booked the venue and church in October, and then I looked for a dress over the internet with my mother for a month or so.  The rest we organised in the last 3 weeks!
