I started crocheting items around 12 weeks lol, but I don’t think it’s ever too early to start looking/researching items that you’ll need.

Until the 12th week ultrasound, I was really scared of a miscarriage. I calmed down at around 16 weeks and that’s when I bought the first batch of baby clothes. I am still waiting for us to move to start on the big items (bed, pram…)

We got the crib/mattress around week 10 because we got a really good deal. However I started buying clothes around week 18 (I knew the gender at the end of week 17).

I started researching and picking out what I wanted early on, but didn’t purchase anything big until Nov/Dec (due early march). Some nursery furniture needs to be ordered very early so check that out for Sure. We started painting the nursery around Thanksgiving. We bought clothing as soon as we found out she was a girl! 🙂

We started renovating our walk in closet into a nursery the night of my BFP. Only because we don’t have a “spare” room to put a baby, so really, we were just making a blank slate, not neccessarily a nursery. After demo, carpet and paint I waited until 20 weeks (sex reveal!) to really get excited and start buying/decorating.

I started a registry around 10-12 weeks… If anything it was a way for me to research and pick out things that I wanted, whether or not I bought them or if they were a baby shower gift. I didn’t share my registry info that early, however, it was more a list just for my own purposes at that point. Maybe you could do something like that?

Pappy8:  I’m 37 weeks and have bought 2 boxes of diapers lol. To be fair he’s my second. With DD we had her room done and registry finished by 20/24 weeks. My shower was at 32 weeks. This time around we are way more lax.

Pappy8:  I didn’t want to jinx it by starting before 12 weeks, but I did sign up for some free sample things (honest company – just be sure to call and cancel the subscription!) and some other sites. I also made a private registry (so only I could see it) on amazon to keep track of items I was researching. I felt more productive that way! But if you’re at 11 weeks I’d say go for it. Stock up!

Congrats on your little one 🙂

Pappy8:  No, I don’t think it’s tacky if people ask if you need anything / want anything, though I’d say a ‘there’s a car seat I have in mind.’ or ‘now that you mention it, there’s this diaper bag’ so you’re more directing them to a particular gift, not just the registry. They’re going to get you something anyways at that point, might as well be useful! I’m not great about accepting gifts, etc. But people want to, and LIKE to, give gifts. (I LOVE giving gifts) I’m going to be sure to send lots of pictures of our LO using all the stuff people got and texting it to the people who got it for us.

I didn’t buy anything until around 18-20 weeks and told everyone not to buy anything until then. I did buy a pair of booties at 12 weeks for our announcement then put them away. I felt better after the anatomy scan said baby was healthy and my worry level went down a lot. I didn’t want to jinx anything by buying baby stuff too soon. Now at 26 weeks the nursery is ready.

I haven’t bought anything yet at 14 weeks but my sister has started giving me things that she doesn’t need anymore, so I have a rock and play, a play mat, infant carrier, bath seat and the only gender neutral sleeper she had lol. I plan to register in September probably after we find out the sex.

We found out at 8 weeks and I bought some little dresses, like, that weekend lol (Still do not know the sex). At 10 weeks, I have a crib, mini crib, diapers. Now picking paint colors! In the back of my head, though, is the thought of how sad I’d be if we lost the baby 🙁

This pregnancy was not expected, by any means, so I guess the shopping is helping me “get into it” and get excited.
