I just got one today!!! Well sorta...I have a honeymoon registry and FI's co-worker bought two things! yay! (I dont technically have it yet) haha
Dont worry...I'm sure you'll get tons of stuff soon! :) When's your bridal shower?
It's been said before but people buy stuff at the last minute. Don't stress out just yet!
We had a few gifts trickle in after we started sending out invites, about 6 weeks before. Most were purchased in the two weeks before the wedding, though, so keep that in mind when you choose what address you want gifts delivered to, if you're going on a honeymoon! Change it to a friend or relative's house at least a week before your wedding date.
I feel ya on this one. We are getting married in a month, and we already had our couples shower, and we've only gotten 4 gifts. We had over 20 people at our shower, too! I just checked both of our registries, and the only things that have been bought are the 4 gifts we received at our shower! Needless to say, I'm a little disappointed. :( I know it's not about the gifts, but they are nice... and we really did register for things that we truly need.
I found that we got some gifts right before the shower, then had a lull. Now we've been averaging a package a day. That said, our registry items aren't flying off the shelf either, so I think we'll have enough to make it through the wedding... so no need to scramble for more items.
If your guests are anything like me, they will wait until a few weeks before your wedding. Though I try to order gifts pre-wedding, I often even send a gift after the wedding. Don't stress!
54 days is a long time to go. People usually remember a couple of weeks before the actual date to buy something.
We got two registry gifts shortly after mailing our STD's, another couple just after mailing the invitations. They are really picking up now, 37 days before the wedding - I have 3 waiting next to me now, and I got one each yesterday and the day before. (They're waiting because FI likes to open them together, but when he can't make it to my apartment we wait until we can be on the phone and find out at the same time.) I also got many of my things at the bridal shower.
One thing I wasn't prepared for: people tend to buy from the top of the list... It makes perfect sense, when you think about it from the guest's perspective: they read from the top of the list down, until they find something they like in their price range. So we'd been really hoping someone would give us our luggage early so we could use it for the honeymoon, but now it seems unlikely, since it's at the very end of the registry.
ETA: I just logged in to our Macy's registry because I remembered that FI and I agreed to a change... and *another* pair of wineglasses has been bought - the very first thing on the list. I'm not whining, it's just a funny pattern. I hope it works its way down to the cooking stuff!
I always buy my gifts the week before the bridal shower if I'm attending and then a week or two before the wedding. So don't stress out about it. They'll end up coming in really fast. Plus I've gotten to where I've had a handmade apron made in the bride's personality and then a box of my mom's receipes as their gift and I've noticed that other people are buying off the registery.
People need deadlines nowadays, buying a gift for a wedding is thoughtless for the most part since it's already picked out.
I made a Bridal Bingo game for my best friends' shower and I completely customized it to be exact registry items that had been purchased in order to move the game along. I kept checking her registry every day to add things to the bingo and started to get worried when the date got closer and closer and almost nothing had been purchased.
Lo and Behold, the DAY BEFORE her shower, items started disappearing like mad off the list. Every Single Person waited until the day before to buy a gift which meant I was up until 2AM Sunday morning making the Bingo game.
We only got one gift before our wedding (besides the shower). Trust me, you will get an influx of gifts for the wedding. :)
We got one engagement gift from a few of my friends. We got our first shower gift the day before my first bridal shower. We haven't received any other presents besides shower gifts yet, and we're less than 2 months away! Don't get too upset about it...the gifts will come soon enough! And then they will take over your living space!

so...I go into my registry ever so often just to see what has been bought, etc. and I am kind of at the point where I am getting a little disapointed.
My wedding is in 54 days and I have only had 1 guest buy something.
I dont want to come off sounding selfish or anything but I figured I would have more gifts at this point.
Our guests know the places we are registered and we only have 1 gift so far.
when did you start recieving gifts? is this a normal time-line? am I going crazy?
