I was hoping to wait till after the first trimester. I work for the school districts and I’m due in July but I still want to see what my options are. When did you tell your employer? Do you think it was beneficial to tell them earlier or later?

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: Well, I work in a clinic, and although they have to keep everything confidential, I figured too many people would know anyway since so many nurses and lab techs would be checking out my chart, so I decided to tell my boss right away. I just her to know for appointments and in case I needed to go home sick.
I know that you don’t have to tell your employer the reason you are sick and all that, but I was ok just telling my boss. I felt it was beneficial becuase then she’d understand why I would have my head down at my desk or understand a change in my energy level.

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: I had to tell at 8 weeks as I was asked to come in to the hospital right away as a result of bloods. I was planning to tell at 12 weeks though. Only one other person in work knows so far and I will tell the rest after my 12week apt. I wasn’t happy about telling, but the way I see it, if anything goes wrong at this point (9 weeks) I would tell him anyway.

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: Plus, I feel awful if I don’t eat on a regular basis (every two hours!) so if he catches me eating in the middle of the work day it isn’t so bad!!

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: I waited until 17 weeks when I started showing and it became a little tougher to hide. I think the timing was fine. I don’t think there’s anything wrong telling sooner, but it also wasn’t necessary for me.

I’m 11.5 weeks and still haven’t told. I’ll probably tell after Thanksgiving. I’m a temp so pretty worried about my job security once I let them know.l

I am only 5 weeks right now, and I don’t think I will tell until 12 or 13 or so weeks… I am also not sure about coming back… and I work at a school and due in July, so we shall just see what happens. I don’t want to tell them before 12 weeks for sure!

I told my boss right away but we’re pretty good friends and we have cocktails together regularly. There’s no way I would have been able to hide it.

I wanted to wait until 12 weeks or so, but it was barely 6 weeks. I had just turned in my 2 weeks notice for another job. I got my BFP a few days later, and decided staying at my current job was best for our family. I felt like an explanation was warranted rather than telling them (boss + 2 coworkers) “JK ya’ll… I’m a flake, and I just want to stay…”

I told mine the day after I took the test! Mostly because I knew I’d be leaving soon, and also because I HAD to tell SOMEONE!

@the_newlymintedmrs-s17: I waited until my first trimester was over. I didn’t want to wait much longer since it’s only me and my boss in the office.

I told some coworkers at 6 weeks but I haven’t told the boss yet. I never see the boss though which is how I can get away with it. Haven’t decided when. I’m 18 weeks.

I just told my boss last week at 19 weeks. His wife is a week ahead of me, and I knew he’d pry and ask a lot of questions, so I waited until I couldn’t hide my tummy very well anymore.

I told my boss at 16 weeks because I’m paranoid and wanted to get started with my FMLA paperwork 🙂

I’m due in June and I’m trying not to tell my boss until after the New Year. I think she’s a bitch and it won’t matter either way if I do tell her. I just don’t think it’s her business at this point.
And yeah I’m totally being petty and withholding information about my personal life because I hate her that much. Not that she cares about me anyway.
