My wedding is in July and I am planning on Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping with my girls and hopefully ordering sometime in November/early December. I’m wondering if I might be too early, but I am basing my “wedding colors” around the dresses (basically because I want to get the best deal for my bridesmaids, so I won’t decide on a color until I know that the fit is flattering and the price is reasonable for everyone).
With that in mind, I really can’t work on flowers or other decor until I decide on the dresses.
Is November/December too early to order for a July wedding?

@LilySarah: my wedding is in June and we are going dress shopping Nov.30th and ordering them that day as well. I don’t think it’s too early!

We went Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping Thanksgiving weekend 2011 and they had an order deadline the second week of January. Becuase all the dresses had to be from the same dye set, they had to order at the same time. We got the dresses in April so there was plenty of time.
We ordered Alfred Sung dresses. I have also worn Alfred Sung a few times in other weddings and I have found that they are a great quality for the price. (My dresses were $135). They are part of the dessy line and a lot of bridal shops will carry these dresses. Check out http://www.dessy.com/ for styles, fabric and color options. Originally I wanted a chiffon dress but I didnt like the colors so I opted for dupioni.

My wedding is in March and I am hoping to order them late December/early January. I would’ve done it sooner but one of my bridesmaids just had a baby and she wanted to lose a few pounds before ordering and another one is due this month.

@LilySarah: My bridal salon told me bridesmaid dresses don’t have to be ordered until 4-6 months prior to the wedding. You could always ask for a swatch of the colours you like and than be able to plan the rest of the wedding around that.

@LilySarah: I generally feel like, if you already know what you want, why not order a little on the early side for peace of mind? 🙂
