I am 33 weeks and just today have noticed that my little girl is up pretty high- she is hanging out around my ribs.  Do babies typically drop right before you go into labor?

I never noticed the "drop" I thought she was pretty high up the whole time... maybe that is why my labor was so damn long LOL...

Mine dropped pretty early. She had everyone convinced she'd be early. For weeks everyone was asking me if I was in labor, my doctors kept saying they didn't expect to see me at my next apt, etc. And then she waited until my due date to come :)

Mine didn't drop until about 37 weeks. Even then, she didn't drop too far, it was just slightly lower than where she was hanging out before.

My fundal height at 34 weeks was lower than expected, but the ultrasound showed the baby was at the right size. He had started to drop already, the doctor couldn't move his head anymore; but was still high enough to kick my ribs.

My baby was born at 39 weeks, 2 days and she never did drop. My coworker went over 40 weeks with both her kids and never dropped either. On the other hand, I know of people who have dropped at 33-34 weeks and still not had the baby until closer to 40 weeks. Basically, the baby dropping doesn't really tell you anything.
