I'm only 29 weeks, but this baby has been sitting really low since the very beginning. I'm already afraid of what it will feel like when she "drops" b/c I can't imagine her sitting any lower. Her positioning makes me waddle like I'm 9 months pregnant, even though I'm still not all that big... and I have to pee every 2 seconds b/c she is laying all of her weight on top of my bladder.
I honestly don't know when my daughter dropped. It was not obvious to me at all, and I couldn't tell a difference. :( Sorry, I guess that's not super helpful. I hope it happens soon for you! I know how uncomfortable it can be to have a baby all squished up against your ribcage and lungs.
I've mentioned this before but mine was REALLY obvious and sudden. My daughter was born on Jan 24 (almost a year!) and I was sitting on the floor on NYE, stood up after awhile and felt weird. I didn't realize what had happened until the next morning when I looked in the mirror. I was really uncomfortable AFTER she dropped so it wasn't all that welcome for me. Hope you get a break, though! (And not in the form of one of your ribs.)
Well my due date is tomorrow, and I hate to tell you this but I still haven't dropped! As I like to tell people, "she's all up in my grill" (aka my ribs) which makes sitting for any period of time, very uncomfortable....oh and breathing, and eating!
She's definitely head down, but not engaged at all. I keep telling her to get on down there (even though I know that will bring on brand new discomforts) but I read online that some babies don't drop until labour - so who knows!
I just really hope it doesn't mean I have an "induction" in my future. We're hoping for a homebirth and I've rented a lovely inflateable pool and dammit - I want to be able to use that thing!! haha
Hopefully you drop soon and find some comfort miss-spunkin!
@candicemcc: oh gosh that sounds so weird, and sudden! I am used to him pressing his head against my bladder, and of the two, ribs or bladder, I prefer the bladder. At least I can still sit if he's down there, but when he's pushed up against my ribs it's uncomfortable to sit.
@echo: ugh! Shoot. I thought relief could be soon haha. Yeah, the worse is sitting. I try to sit up straight of with lots of pillows, but it's a pretty constant pain. I don't know that that is enough of a reason for an induction though, or at least I've never heard of if (and I feel like I've read all the birth books out there!). Good luck and hopefully she comes soon :)
I haven't dropped, but he is head down. He keeps kicking my ribs. I don't know when he will drop, but some people don't drop until the last minute.
@trugem: yeah, his head is way down, and presses into my bladder alot, but now he's so much bigger, that he can still push his legs and butt into my ribs, even being that far down. I'm not really sure how much lower he could "drop" but I hope he can/will!
I only noticed that she had dropped when I wasn't getting heartburn with EVERYthing. I also noticed I could breathe a little easier, too, but it wasn't a dramatic change that I could see.
I noticed her drop further down at 36 weeks and she came at 37. It wasn't a very noticable difference for me but I was a lot clumsier due to my center of balance shifting.
At my 36 week appointment the doctor measured my belly and found it to be smaller than the week before (consistantly had been measuring a week ahead for most of the pregnancy), so he sent me to get an ultrasound to check growth. Turned out it was because his head was super low and he had dropped.
@miss-spunkin: lol I know he is long and probably on the bigger side. I wonder what the doctor will say this week.

I am 34 weeks now, and the baby is always up near my ribs, it's been an incredibly painful month. My midwife said my ribs are actually splaying from him kicking and butting against them so hard.
I'm anxious for him to drop, and heard that it can be around now and 35-ish weeks. When did all you ladies drop? And was it really obvious when you did?
