I’m almost 29 weeks and yesterday my midwife told me that baby was head up. She said it wasn’t a real source of concern yet, but that baby had to turn in the next few weeks or she would send me to an OB that would then try to turn it manually. When did your babies turn head down and has anyone gone through turning a breech baby?

eocenia: I think I was about 33 or 34 weeks when he turned. He pretty much turned right at the very end. My OB wasn’t too concerned about it for the most part unless I was nearing 36 weeks with him not turning.

I think the dr first mentioned my baby was head down around 32-34wks. My neighbor’s baby girl was breech and she went to the dr to manually turn it, said it hurt like hell

My OB didn’t even check until 32 or 33 weeks, and she was head down then.

I want to say it was around 32 weeks

At just shy of 29 weeks baby was transverse. Then somewhere between then and 32 weeks he turned. I was actually in a lot of pain in my lower left side as he was stretching areas that hadn’t been before while he made his way head down. It took a good week for the pain Togo away. Then I found out he was head down.

I’ve lost track of weeks, but dd was due nov 8 And at my early oct appointment she was head down. Then when I went in on nov 8, she was breech and I ended up with a c-section that day.

eocenia: mine was breech at 28 weeks and again at 30 weeks- I was getting nervous but was glad there were options (manual turning) to try before a c-section delivery! They also directed me to the spinning babies website, which has info (yoga moves, etc) that will help a baby turn head down. They also told me that there was no cause for worry until closer to 36 weeks. At 32 weeks my baby was head down and stayed that way. Good luck to you!

eocenia: I think my child had finally turned at my 38 week appointment, (on the cusp of 39 weeks), and guess who decided to join us in the real world 1/14? That’s right, our daughter.

eocenia: my LO was manually turned at 38-39 weeks but she only flipped breech at 34 weeks. The ECV wasn’t painful at all and I went on to have a vaginal delivery at 41.2 days

I was 38+3 and delivered at 39 weeks. It was a horrifying sight, but didn’t hurt!

Thanks for all your replies! From the conversation we had with our midwife we were under the impression that we pretty much had two weeks to turn things around, so I feel much calmer after reading through your comments.
MrsAKSkier: Thanks, I’ll have a look at the website and I’m also planning to go to the local pool to see if swimming might help. Just need to get a swimsuit that works… 🙂
Kemma: I’ve only heard bad things about ECVs, so I’m very glad to hear that at least yours wasn’t painful. Gives me a little more confidence if I do have to go through with it.
MammaPants: The birth didn’t hurt? Was that due to pain medications or do you just have an amazingly high pain threshold?

eocenia: I don’t remember every being checked to see if he was head down- and I delivered at 33 weeks to the day. So my guess is, either I would have been checked at my next appointment OR she knew he was head down and didnt bother to say anything to me? I wouldn’t worry about it yet though…..you still have plenty of time for baby to move.
