Just curious. I’m itching to go get ours (who knew I’d look forward to standing in line at the courthouse!). We had planned on going next week, but it looks like scheduling conflicts will push it off for another week.

I can’t remember exactly, but I’m pretty sure we went within the first few days we were able to. I was excited too! It feels real once that’s done!

We haven’t actually planned it out but we will probably get it 2-3 weeks beforehand. Within the month of our ceremony, that’s for sure.

renwoman: We went and got ours almost as soon as we were able to. I had to arrange our initial meeting with our Marriage Commissioner for a time when DH would be home from work. He works away from home 14 days at a time so most things have to be planned around his schedule. So we got our marriage licence the same day we met with our marriage commissioner, which was about 3 months prior to the wedding. We left it with him after the meeting too which was great because knowing us it would have got crumpled, torn, lost or thrown away had we kept it at our house that long!

Here in IL, licenses are good for 60 days. We got married on 5/17 and got our license on 3/20.

we got ours about a month before our wedding

We had to do it 24hrs in advance so we went to the Town Clerk 48hrs just to be safe!
And then our official copy just came back to us in the mail yesterday, so a week & three days after getting married 🙂

In WI we can only get ours 30 days in advance with a 6 day waiting period, so we will probably get ours 2-3 weeks before the wedding.

I think in Jersey (US) they are only good for 30 days. We will likely get it the first week of the month we are getting married in. So in two months or so from now…. I am suddenly feeling nervous/excited thinking about it. Let me get off of this thread before I have a small panic attack!

We got ours about a month before the wedding.

We had to get ours at least seven days before and it was only good for thirty days and we had to go out of state to get it. Luckily our license trip coincided with another reason to go back so we got it about three weeks out. If we lived in that state I would have gotten it ASAP so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

We’re getting married in a different county, four hundred miles away, so we’re getting it three days before our wedding.

renwoman: In CA you can get your marriage license up to 90 days prior to the wedding, and we got it almost exactly one month before (got it April 1st, wedding was May 2)

It depends on your state, because the expiration varies. For us, we do it the month of but not so close as to the day before obviously. Even so, the license takes like 24 hours to be valid.

We got (and pre-signed) ours about two or three days before we got married.
