I’ll be 39w1d pregnant on my last day of work before baby.  I’m taking 12 weeks too… so hopefully she comes soon after that so I can spend as much time with her as possible on my leave.

My co workers all worked until 38 or 39 weeks (preschool teachers), and most of them planned on taking 3-6months off. NONE of them ever came back!

In Canada, we get 12 months as well. I’m not sure if I’ll take the full 12 months yet ; depends on how we are doing financially. Pretty sure I’m due May 25th if all goes well and I’d love to work up until 2-3 weeks before my due date.

I work at a university, so I think I’m going to leave on the last day of winter quarter, before spring break. That’d be 38 weeks for me.

ETA: I am hoping to not go back to work until the next academic year (mid September), and would be taking those 5ish months off unpaid, so I don’t think I need to be so strategic in when I start my maternity leave.

I’m a registered nurse and work 32 hours/ week. I plan to work until I go in to labor unless some other complication comes along. I’ll be doing the 12 weeks mat leave.

@Cory_loves_this_girl:  Yeah its pretty rough huh! We get 14 weeks paid but your employer has to hold your job open for 12months. I didnt realise how lucky we were until coming on here!

I voted 39 but should have voted 38. I’m a teacher and I’m gonna try to swing having my sub take over right after spring break which will be somewhat of a fresh start for the kids. I will be 39 weeks the day school resumes after SB. I am not planning on coming back but my principal doesn’t know that yet! Just doesn’t make sense financially for us when I get paid so little to begin with.

ETA: that was somewhat confusing. I’m hoping to be done the day before spring break begins at 38 weeks.
