So I am wondering about when other ladies have taken their honeymoons. I have read lots of different opinions on this topic and now want to do a poll! Please list the pros and cons to when you left also.

We are taking 2.5 months after the wedding. Purely for finanical reasons & this way we avoid peak travel season.

We’re taking our honeymoon a month after because we wanted to wait until after peak tourist season to have a more intimate experience around Europe. Plus we know that alot of things in Italy are closed during August. My brother and his new wife left for their honeymoon the day after the wedding… that just seemed hectic to me because they had to have their honeymoon bags and passports and all that other stuff in order on top of everything else they had on their minds, and family members had to be organized to store their wedding gifts and supplies for them till they got back… I’d rather just have the time to haul all my wedding stuff home and sort it out before going on a trip..

We planned to take it for our 1-year anniversary but we still haven’t been able to do it. Based on that, I’d advice to take a honeymoon as soon as possible after the wedding to make sure that life doesn’t get in the way and stop you from going

We’ve only just decided where we want to go. We want to do a Viking River Cruise in Europe but because it’s winter here now and the cruise we want is full it will next year before we go. I can wait for that. We take mini-vacations all the time so it’s no big deal. 🙂

We’re doing a mini-moon in Kashmir (4 days) a few days after the wedding. Right now the plan is to go to Peru for vacation in October but I don’t know if that will be happening. I sold my startup and my 3 week jaunt to India for my wedding was part of the transaction that I negotiated-since I am a senior officer at the new company it looks bad for me to just gallivant off when I feel like it.
We’re also looking to buy a place and I think we need to focus on building up a nest egg again after we come back from our weddingstravaganza. So I’m focused on enjoying our India trip and then maybe we’ll take domestic trips here and there with all the lovely camping equipment we registered for!

we left the next day straight from brunch. If i were to do it again, I would wait a day or two for a little down time, and to spend time with family, but our time off from work was limited.

We left for Hawaii the morning after. Our flight left at 9am and we loved it. We were still on the wedding high from the day before, so the long flight wasn’t so bad. We slept most of the time and when we were awake we talked about the wedding and how fun it was. It felt like a honeymoon rather than just a vacation. Actually, I still had my hair and make up done from wedding day, we had soo many people congratulate us and ask about the wedding. It was fun.

We left at OMG early for our flight the morning after an afternoon wedding. It was perfect for us. Having time to just be together to celebrate and enjoy each other with no pressure/planning/work/etc before going back to real life.
Would do it again in a heartbeat.

After a next day brunch, we did a 2 night mini-moon right after the wedding- you really need to take a short break, just the two of you. We went to Williamsburg, about a 4-hour drive from where we are (If I could change it, we could have done one a little closer.) We’re leaving on our honeymoon on November 24th- 3 weeks in New Zealand!
The wedding/honeymoon break was two-fold- we had a shorter, 6-month engagement, so it was one less thing to have to plan right then. Plus, it’ll be their late spring/early summer so weather-wise it’s perfect.

We waited 6 days to leave for our honeymoon. it was just a scheduling issue for us with our work schedules. So we went back to work on Monday after our wedding and then left for our honeymoon the next Friday.

We are leaving for Iceland the day after our wedding!

We’re doing a short mini-moon to Florida a day or two after the wedding and then the three week honeymoon in Africa about a month and a half later.

We went 12 days after the wedding. However, this was because we used DH’s parents’ timeshare, and that was when the timeshare was available. Otherwise, we probably would have left the day after the wedding.

I would have loved to take my honeymoon right after the wedding but life did not allowe this. Plus we took two weeks off just for the wedding because we were getting married in my hometown on the opposite end of Canada.
We will be taking our honeymoon over Christmas in Mexico!
