Bees, any thoughts on when people expect to receive thank you cards after the wedding? We are so appreciative of our guests and their gifts and want to send out thank you cards asap. Problem is, we’ve ordered photo thank you cards from our photographer (which I’m sure will be gorgeous) and I think it may take them a few months to deliver them (especially since it’s the peak of wedding season and I’m sure they’re swamped). We don’t want our guests to get the idea that we were lazy with writing thank you cards. Maybe I’m over thinking this??

@sbuxfan: I would say within a couple of weeks after the wedding. But if you are doing something special that takes a little longer to get printed then I think your guests will be happy to receive it when it is mailed out.

your over thinking it… its been 2 months for me because i was waiting on pictures too. Just relax and anyone who is going to be upset at you for waiting 2 months is just a rude person. Besides they’ll understand when they get the photo card.

@sbuxfan: within 3 months, but really closer to 6-8 weeks.

within 3 months is standard. However i have yet to receive one withiin that time frame…

I’m biased. My mother sat my ass down after I got ANY kind of gift, when I was a child, and made me write a thank you note the very next day.
So I pretty much do the same thing and though I don’t expect a 1 day turnaround for thank you cards. I think pushing it past 2-3 months is rude. ESPECIALLY when you don’t even get an acknowledgement text, call, email so you know that they got the gift. Inexcusable.
I hate hearing the “people are busy” line. Everyone always thinks they are busier than everyone else. I’m busy, you’re busy, we’re all busy.
And in addition to my obnoxious holier-than-thou post. I’ve already ordered and received my personalized shower thank you notes and wedding thank you notes. My wedding is 6 months away. This way I don’t have to wait to get them to start sending them out. I’m not saying this is what everyone should have to do – but I cover my bases so I don’t have excuses.
Photo thank you cards are a personal choice and you have every right to want them. I just feel like the THANK YOU cards are more about the guests so it’s rude to keep them waiting. And when you keep them waiting because you’re sending them a picture of you….I don’t know…you’re making it about you, again. To each their own. I have a co-worker that had to wait 5 months for her photo cards. I thought that was ridiculous.

I’d say 2-3 months, ours went out a month and a half after just because we were waiting for our vistaprint thank you cards to come in.
