When do guests expect to receive thank you cards?

@sbuxfan:  I would say within a couple of weeks after the wedding. But if you are doing something special that takes a little longer to get printed then I think your guests will be happy to receive it when it is mailed out.

your over thinking it… its been 2 months for me because i was waiting on pictures too. Just relax and anyone who is going to be upset at you for waiting 2 months is just a rude person. Besides they’ll understand when they get the photo card.

@sbuxfan:  within 3 months, but really closer to 6-8 weeks.

I’m biased.  My mother sat my ass down after I got ANY kind of gift, when I was a child, and made me write a thank you note the very next day.

So I pretty much do the same thing and though I don’t expect a 1 day turnaround for thank you cards.  I think pushing it past 2-3 months is rude.  ESPECIALLY when you don’t even get an acknowledgement text, call, email so you know that they got the gift.  Inexcusable.

I hate hearing the “people are busy” line.   Everyone always thinks they are busier than everyone else.  I’m busy, you’re busy, we’re all busy.

And in addition to my obnoxious holier-than-thou post.  I’ve already ordered and received my personalized shower thank you notes and wedding thank you notes.  My wedding is 6 months away.   This way I don’t have to wait to get them to start sending them out.  I’m not saying this is what everyone should have to do – but I cover my bases so I don’t have excuses.

Photo thank you cards are a personal choice and you have every right to want them.  I just feel like the THANK YOU cards are more about the guests so it’s rude to keep them waiting.   And when you keep them waiting because you’re sending them a picture of you….I don’t know…you’re making it about you, again.  To each their own.   I have a co-worker that had to wait 5 months for her photo cards.  I thought that was ridiculous.

I’d say 2-3 months, ours went out a month and a half after just because we were waiting for our vistaprint thank you cards to come in.
