I recently got engaged, but my partner and I aren’t having our engagement party for 2 months. So far, we have only told my best friend, my sister and his brother, as we’ve asked them to be Maid/Matron of Honor, Bridesmaid and Best Man. We didn’t want to tell anyone else other than bridal party members until the official announcement at the engagement party, so that we could keep it a surprise. The only thing is, I want one of my cousins to be a bridesmaid. She is only 13 years old, and I know she’ll be really excited to be part of the wedding, but I don’t know whether I would be wrong to ask her to be a bridesmaid before the announcement as it means she’ll have to keep it a secret from her parents (my aunt and uncle) for 2 months. Should I wait until the party before asking her? x

I would wait..it’ll make it easier on her. And if you ask her at your party – she will be so excited for the attention! 🙂

@bhs133: Yeah it’s really hard not to tell everyone, but I’ve got such a big family so I want the chance to tell them all at the same time. We haven’t even told my mum yet (we’re waiting until we all go out for dinner next week to tell her). We want it to be a big surprise, so we’re having a BBQ with loads of family and friends so that they don’t suspect anything, then we’re gonna spring it on them that it’s actually an engagement party 🙂 x
