When do I have to start booking a dj, florist, and a wedding cake maker for my wedding? I don’t live in a bustling metropolis, but I would like to make sure I get everything settled and taken care of. I’m planning the wedding about an hour-and-a-half away, so I’m doing everything on the weekends.

Never too early to start calling around now that you’re past the 1 year mark!
I’m about to finalize our DJ this coming week, and I would recommend looking at cakes around the 6-8 month mark before your wedding! I’m not using a florist but most I talked to when I did were booking a year in advance! Another I talked to suggests 8 months ahead. It all depends call around!

I would say get started at anytime! The more you get out of the way, the less stress you’ll have later. In my area, a lot of people were booking things more than a year in advance.

Wow, that far out? I better get on the phone soon! I thought I had more time.
I think I might have found a DJ. Time to contact them to ask about prices and what not!

Start booking ASAP, we got deals for booking early. I too am also planning my wedding from an hour away so a lot of it is done on weekends. The DJ even gave us the rates for 2012 since we booked him so early (10 months before the wedding) It’s never too early!

- Wedding: October 2013 - The Down Town Club, Philadelphia
I’m planning in a major city and from far away, so I booked our DJ, photog, and DOC a long time ago. I am dragging my feet on the florist, bc I strangely don’t care that much about flowers.
We just decided on our rehearsal dinner location last weekend.
I think it’s ever too early to start. I like having the luxury of making a researched informed decision, so I started really early.
