I have heard 4-8 weeks. Not sure how correct that is.

I’ve heard RSVP date is 4 weeks before – invites should be sent out about 2 months in advance.  Hope that helps.

I have always heard 6-8 weeks before the wedding, while giving your guests enough time to reply by 3-4 weeks before the wedding.  That gives you some time to call the stragglers who haven’t responded

I’m getting married April 5th, our invites will be in the mail no later than the end of this month, and RSVP date is 3 weeks (3/5) before the wedding… I chose 3 weeks because the room block is up 4 weeks before the wedding, the guarantee is due 2 weeks before the wedding (rough estimate) and I only have to give a final head count 3 days before the wedding.

in all practicality…find out when the final number is due to your caterer.  Add three days onto that for yoursake.  Add another week onto that for your guest’s sake (since so many of them don’t return the RSVP in time).  Then add 6-8 weeks onto that.  Bingo, a date to send invitations.

of course, you should also consider if there are any holidays and/or other events during that time so that you aren’t doubling up on people’s information or getting things lost in their mail because they have been away on vacation.

Hope that helped.
