When do most people begin to purchase items from registry?

We haven’t had anything purchased yet. I figure it’ll start happening after the shower invites and wedding invites go out.

for the wedding or shower?

for my shower, a few gifts were bought in advance, but most everything was purchased the few days leading up to the shower.

as for the wedding, i received a few gifts at the wedding and few by mail at home.  the majority brought cards with checks or cash to the wedding.

People started buying things about 2-3 days before the shower. Only a very few people bought off the registry for the wedding. It was mostly cash gifts.

I’m sure most gifts will be cards/cash. But in terms of gifts, I know that if I am buying a gift I get it like a day or two before the wedding. I feel like alot of people are also late shoppers too.

Atlas1311:  We’re just under 5 weeks out and had an initial flurry where 6 people/couples bought gifts pretty much as soon as it opened just over a week ago, but haven’t had anyone buy anything since. I suspect most will wait until the week of the wedding, or possibly until after (list closes 2 weeks after the wedding). Some may also bring cash or vouchers I guess if nothing on the list appeals to them.

I’m sure very few people would bring a physical gift given the situation, so I wouldn’t worry 🙂

For the wedding, things started being purchased 5-6 weeks in advance, but most were the week of the wedding. I would set up some sort of service to handle packages, though. Likely a few things will come through a few days before or after the wedding.

I’m still a few months out from my wedding, but only 2 weeks out from my first shower.  People started purchasing gifts about a month out from the shower and gift purchase peaks at about 3 weeks out.  I’ve got another shower about a month from now, so there seems to be another flurry of buying going on now.  We’re inviting just over 200 to the wedding and expect each shower to range from 15-30 guests and so far about 50 gifts have been purchased, though it looks like guests may be combining several small gifts together in one.

People started buying off the registry as soon as we created it (around the time the save-the-dates went out). Everything had been purchased off of it by a week or so before the wedding. Almost all gifts were shipped to us, but ten or so people brought their boxed gifts to the wedding (I believe in some parts of the country bringing a gift is more common). Some monetary gifts were mailed to us, but the majority of those were brought to the wedding.

I’m a weirdo and as soon as I get invited to a wedding I’m trying to find out if the couple has a registry, I like to be one of the first people to look at the list and pick from it what I want to buy for them, that way I can choose without having to worry about everybody snapping up what I like off the registry.  I have a feeling however I’m one in a hundred that feel this way!
