I have dont many a Google search and can't seem to find a timeline on when we should go in to get our marriage license. Any insight? (laws may differ as I am located in Canada)

The laws are different in every state down here. I know in PA you have to wait until 60 days prior to the wedding and you can get your license in any county of the state. That isn't true for all states.

I also had the same problem googling are marriage licenses and had no luck. Another Bee who resided in my state told me to go to the courthouse. Maybe this is true for you too!

We just went to get ours this morning!  Our wedding is June 20th, and we got the information from our County Recorder in the county of our residence.  We found out you can apply up to three months in advance and pick it up within 30 days of the wedding date.  We applied today, 29 days away, and got to take it with us today!  The license is valid for 30 days from the issue date, so we are just barely going to make it.  It has to be returned to them within 15 days after the wedding.

Some other info we found out: In Missouri, you can get the license in any county; it doesn't have to be the county you are getting married in.  Also, the officiant can be from out of state and doesn't have to hold any special licensing to perform the ceremony in Missouri.

I know you said you were from Canada, so I'm sure things are different, but I hope this helps somewhat!

The laws differ everywhere.  The best way to find this out would be to check with the government office in charge of marriage licenses in your area. Good luck
