I've been in count-down mode since late August when I bought my tickets to see J this winter :) (and pretty much cried when my tickets had to be changed to a day later due to a flight cancelation, even though it only September)

So: How long til you see your beloved next?

    I've got 40 days left!

When Bee and I were in an LDR, we always counted down the days to every weekend together!

I think regular flights to see each other every six weeks is a good balance?  That way, you see each other every three weeks! :-)

@Josephine - I could never fault anyone else their good fortune!! I'm so glad for your sake that you don't have to be far from your FI :)

That said, we long distance girls gotta stick together!

How great that you will be seeing your fella soon, Daydream. I know it seems like forever now, though. How far apart are you guys?

MrBee, the six weeks timeline seems like a good compromise.

As for me and my guy, at the moment we have no idea when we will see each other next. We were really lucky to have a total of four months together this year. We may not see each other until it's wedding time, which will be about a year from now. 8000+ miles is a bit of a barrier, and with the wedding, visa and move on the agenda for this year, I don't think airfare is in the budget.

When will teleportation be perfected?!? Wink

@TexasGalah, I'm in China, he's in America ... so halfway 'round the globe! I have a seven week winter holiday though, so I'm headed off to spend that time with him. It's going to be amazing!!

I know what you mean about airfare not being in the budget though... it's unbelievable how expensive flights are :( but hey, there's always frequent flier miles!

@daydream...I'm so happy you get to go home and see your guy!  We're in the same city, but there was a time when I was 10,000 km away from him without a work visa and wondering how long it would be before we could see each other again.  Not fun!!! Now I count down the days until I get to see my family (less than 200 days to go!)

You are going to have a wonderful time, Daydream. All snug while winter roars outside, I'm sure! Perfect reason to cuddle in front of a nice fire.

Bamm, you've already been through the visa process, that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish! I'm completely overwhelmed just thinking about it. How awesome that you successfully got through it all. I love seeing success stories!

My fiance lives in England, and I don't get to see him till March!  Which is still ages away, 4 months or something like that?  But the great thing is that after that trip, the next time I see him will be when he moves over for real that summer!  Only one more sad trip to the airport to say goodbye, which seems amazing after 4 years of living on different continents.

@daydream - haha thanks!  I know, basically forever.  Luckily we had bits of time here and there where we were able to do extended visits.  But after that long, actually getting to live together feels like a dream!  I can't wait!

When we first started dating, we went over a year before being able to get together and have our first 'date'.  It was horrible for sure.  Hope all you girls won't be LDR much longer!

When we were in our LDR I literally had countdowns on my fridge. I cried every time we left one another (even if it were only for a few weeks). So glad that part is past us!

Our countdowns are much shorter than they used to be.  We've been LDR for 6 years but we've been at varying distances.  It was 10 hours drive at one point, but now we are only 3 hours apart.  The longest we ever went was 4 months but these days it's only 3 weeks or so between visits.  We were separated due to school, but he'll finally be done in May!

In the last 6 months we've seen each other for 6 weeks. I know for a lot of people it's a lot, but we used to live together and that makes it harder for us. I don't know if I'll see him before Christmas it only depends of my K1 Visa.

I can't wait. I saw him last on Sept. 13th.

Since the 7th of April, I have seen him a grand total of 6 days.

    Next Wednesday night!

We were LD for the first year of our relationship and got to see each other roughly ever 2 months.  Now we're semi LD and get to see each other ever weekend!  Well, this weekend is an exception, but the fact that I get to spend Wed night to Monday morning with him next week makes up for it.

Wow, I didn't realize how many international couples we had floating around! Ladies, every day is a day closer... I remind myself of that every single morning, because it seems so far away some days, but you just gotta keep smiling :)

@TexasGalah a Korean work visa...not an American K1 visa. I've heard the K1 is a whole other set of problems.  But the Egyptian husband of my American friend (they're in Korea right now), just got his K1!  Very very excited for them!

@Bamm: our immigration lawyer said that its a lot easier to get a K1 visa as long as you make x amount per year! A lot of people are denied visas based on their income :(

I was reading up on it on visajourney.com & the amount of people who got rejected just kills me!

@Recessionista that's horrible! I wonder how it works in Canada.  We won't be moving back to Canada for 10-15 years, but I wonder how easy it will be for FI to come.  Hopefully by that point we won't have to work too hard to 'prove' we have a real relationship.

Wednesday!! It will have been about 5 weeks and I can't wait. He is coming for Thanksgiving and I am THRILLED!

Mr. Bee, we try to switch off flights every other month sort of like you were saying, but it can be so expensive! Thankfully we've been gifted flights by our parents a couple times, otherwise we wouldn't be able to do it.

I get to see him in 17 days.... I am soooo Excited!! I am flying standby to LA, so the waiting might be painful, but it is only 111 days until our wedding. :D
