I’m thinking of joining the gym soon for some pre-wedding toning. A girl in my team goes to the gym every morning before work. Now I’m the sort of girl that does her makeup on the train for 15 minutes extra sleep (I know, THAT girl). So that’s out. I also don’t like to rush so I don’t want to work out at lunch. FI works quite late so I think I will go straight from work.
So Bees, when do you work out?

@linnylou_88: I love going to pilates or yoga during lunch so I go regularly when I’m not busy with tax season.
For my cardio stuff it depends on the time of the year. Its too hot to really go running after work in the summer so I used to do it before work but not that it is fall I do my running after work.

@linnylou_88: I have to go directly after work. I actually change at the office to make extra sure I don’t skip out and go straight home 😉
If I make it to the house I’m out of commission for the night 🙂

@ANGELaaimt: That’s why I’m thinking of joining the gym opposite work – if I went home first I’d never leave!

@linnylou_88: It’s been working really well so far! 🙂

@linnylou_88: Yeah, if you go to the gym after work but BEFORE you get home, it’ll happen. Once I get home, no way in hell. Also, there are a lot of studies showing that drinking caffeine ~45-60 minutes before working out increases your output and stamina. (Or in my case, gives me enough energy to even ponder the idea of exercise after a day at work.)

Always first thing in the morning, that way it’s done!

I either go during lunch or right after work. To make sure that I go after work instead of just going home, I play a “trigger” song while I’m changing into my gym clothes, kinda like a pavlov’s dog kind of thing. I hear the song and I know that I should change to go to the gym. It’s kinda weird, but it works!

My husband meets me at the train after station and we go to the gym from there.

Anywhere between 6:30pm and 8:30pm… I like to go home from work, grab a bite and chill out for a few. I def could never do early morning. Like a PP said on caffeine, sometimes I will do a cup of coffee first. My FH and I both go together. So, when one of us isn’t motivate, the other will give them that extra push of motivation.

First thing in the morning. It gives me tons of energy to get through the day. Plus, the gym is less packed than at let’s say 6 or 7 which is always a bonus.

@linnylou_88: I got to Crossfit four to five days a week. During the week (M-F) I go straight from work. On Saturday I get up, have a hearty healthy breakfast, maybe tidy up a bit and head out.
I originally used to run every morning and while I lost A LOT of weight with that plan I hated every single moment of it all. I hate running and like you I absolutely hate getting up earlier than I have to.
For me working out after work is my way to decompress andd let go of any work related stress. I then follow up my workout with a trip to the store to by fresh items for dinner. Post-workout food choices are much healthier for me.

I always do my workouts in the morning so it’s out of the way. I know if I wait until the end of the day when my energy is low I’m less likely to commit. Though lately I’ve been doing one workout in the morning and one in the evening. I’m very lucky to have a flexible schedule and a good amount of free time to do that 🙂

I take classes at lunch from Tuesday – Thursday and work out at the pool on Monday night after work.

I almost always go in the afternoon/evening after school/work. I like being able to get out of there and relax at home with nothing much else to do for the rest of the day. The only thing I don’t really like about going after school/work is that a lot of other people are often there as well – the gym gets really crowded around 7pm. So it might take you a few visits to figure out which hour you like most as far as how much space you have to work out.
