you should have the parties whenever you want. usually the shower is a few months before, and the bachelorette party is a week/month before the wedding, but it really just depends on what’s good for you and your bridal party.

i’ve been to a shower that was the day before the wedding because her mom wasn’t able to come any other time. i personally didn’t like that because i thought it would stress me out as a bride to have it right before the wedding, plus guests have to buy two presents at the same time, but if it’s good for the bride then so be it. i had my bachelorette party in nov. for my feb. wedding because again, that’s when it was good for my oot bridesmaids.

We’re getting married 10-15-10 and I plan on trying to have the showers at least 3 or 4 months out. Our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner will be the night before, so the bachelorette party might be the weekend before. We have already registered at one of our places and going to register at the next the 4th of next month.

Great question! I have been wondering the same thing actually!

I was considering having it the weekend before the wedding since we only have 1 out of town guest (FSIL) and it would make it easier for travel $$ and she would just stay the week on vacation. But like artbee stated, it might be tough for the guests to shovel out two presents in 1 week.

Otherwise I think you can have it whenever you want – but a few months before (July-Sept for Oct wedding) is standard.

My shower is about 3 months before the wedding and bach party is 3 weeks after that. I prefered to have them farish before the wedding so I could 1. Recover and 2. start the festivities already!!

Mine got put off to the last minute a little bit because of the holidays and some other drama, so my shower will be three weeks before the wedding.  And I’m planning to have the bachelorette party the night after the shower.  Made sense to me to do it while my girls from out of town are already here.  My cousin just sent me a mock-up of the shower invite!  Man its tough to not nit-pick it like I have all the other wedding decisions, but it does look really good.  I’m excited!

I’m 10-16. My bachelorette is going to be in August – since my bridesmaids live all over the country, we wanted to give them some time in-between the events and flights are cheaper then.

Registering is already done though! We started getting questions about our registry less than a week after getting engaged, so we did that quickly.
