When do you open gifts you receive via UPS/FEDEX before the wedding?

You can open them before the wedding. We opened all of ours to make sure they’re 1) not damaged and 2) what they’re supposed to be. For example, we had several glasses break in transit and one item that was ordered online was from a different retailer (owned by the same parent company) and definitely not an item we wanted or registered for.

I opened them immediately because I’m like a 5-year-old and can’t be around a wrapped present without tearing into it…

@KJA00:  Open them right away, like PP said!  🙂  But don’t use them until after the wedding.  That probably won’t be too much of a problem since it’s only 4 days away!

@KJA00:  Open them right away for a few reasons, like PP said you make sure they’re undamaged, it’s less to deal with after the wedding and you can get a jump start on writing thank you cards to acknowledge to the sender that you did get it!

@KJA00:  I actually wondered the same thing recently since we started getting presents in the mail.  Luckily we decided to open them because several of the plates we got from Crate and Barrel were broken.  They had shipped delicate, fragile plates with a 20 lb iron skillet.  What the what?!  That just doesn’t seem logical in my mind. But, yeah – definitely open them!

We opened immediately and many of the items we are already using. I know you are supposed to wait until after the wedding, but we aren’t. We have lived together for a long time now, and see no point in hoarding wonderful gifts in our spare room for months without using them. Out with the old in with the new I say! 😉 Granted I may not be etiquettely (yea that’s a new word now) correct, but whatever. It works for us and that’s all that matters!

My FILs bought us a new range and a fridge. So, it was hard not to use it before the wedding!! Ha, ha!

I’d say, you could always use it before the wedding.

I opened all the gifts (and began using them) before the wedding.  If they didn’t want you to have them until after the wedding, they would have sent them later.

Open them when they arrive and send out a TY note so the person knows it got there. Then don’t use it until after the wedding 🙂
