Just wondering when/if you ever take your e-ring off. Bed, shower, workout?
When I sleep, shower, and when I wash my hands or dishes :)
Wow - interesting, I only wear it when I'm out or to work. I never wear it around the house or at the gym/dance studio, etc. I never shower with it on.
Well, I didn't at first, but now I take it off when I clean definately, and also when I shower. Periodically when I sleep.
I had my e-ring & w-band saudered together, so I'm totally paranoid about losing a diamond out of it now. I actually take it off now, where before the wedding, I didn't ever take it off...
Hubby tells me I should though, when I'm doing dishes primarily.
The only time I take mine off is if I'm baking or hard-core cleaning... but if I'm baking something that isn't too messy, or if I'm lightly cleaning, I don't take it off. I've only taken it off a few times in over a year (maybe only 3?), and I haven't taken it or my wedding bands off since we've been married.
Only when I clean it, or am putting lotion on. One night I put hand lotion on, and left it on my bedside table all night, and didn't remember it until I was half way to the freeway, headed to work the next morning. You better believe I turned around and got it, LOL!
I only take mine off when I put lotion on. It's stays on for everything else - I try to minimize my ability to lose it (high chance when it's not on my finger). I work in a lab and don't even take if off for that, it's safe though...only certain chemicals will dissolve gold!
I take mine off (and weddingband) when I shower and when I cook (mostly stuff like cutting chicken or meat)
I take mine off for cooking, cleaning when I am doing something harsh, showering and at work (I am a nurse and rings are prime for growing germs!)
Mine kind of irritates me, but at the same time I hate taking it off for fear of losing it. I try not to take mine off unless I am absolutely in need of doing it... def. when I clean the bathroom, and sometimes when I cook.
I take my e-ring off all the time-- I'm worried I'll damage it lol. I wear it socially, but not at home or at work. :)
I started a similar thread a little while back & there's close to 200 votes if you want more of an idea!

I have to take mine off at work. Otherwise, the only time it ever comes off is when I am cooking anything I have to stick my hands in or when I put lotion on.
I'm getting so I take it off less and less. Now it's primarily to shower and do the dishes, or something particularly messy with my hands when cooking. I've gotten more used to wearing it, I guess!
Only when I shower and clean, other than that it stays on the finger :)
I only wear mine when I leave the house...as soon as I get home, it is off and in its box! I am so scared of knocking a stone loose and keeping it clean!
Only when I'm cleaning with chemicals or cooking something that involves me getting my hands really dirty. Other than that, I never take it off.
When I shower, when I cook, when I sleep, when I work out, when I clean...basically anything dirty/messy/where the ring could get damaged!
Sleep, cooking, working out, cleaning, and showering. Don't want to get chemicals on my ring and I've seen the gold get torn up from lifting weights before.
The last time i took my E-ring off was for the MS City to shore bike ride in october and it was cutting off my circulation with my bike gloves on too. My mom wore it on her finger until she met me at the finish line
I take mine off for baking, cleaning and tanning, but also when I'm serving at the resturant I used to work at... I make much better tips when I don't wear it. At the time FI had a great job and I wasn't in grad school... I am blessed with a pretty ring and noticed people would make comments about my ring and then give me awful tips... So off came the ring (At work only) and up went the tips! .... Haha silly but true!
Other - Baking... nothing like bread dough in a ring to really gunk it up!
I've never been a big jewelry person though, so I take rings off for everything. :)
cooking, cleaning, showering, putting on lotion...i get so nervous that something is going to gunk it up or, worse yet, a diamond might get knocked loose and end up down the drain!! hopefully this anxiety goes away because i HATE taking it off!!
I never take them off unless i'm making meatballs or mushing stuff with my hands.
I would so lose it. I figure nothing'll really hurt it and it's insured anyways. I refuse to wear the ring with fear! Plus, if I start taking the 3 bands off all the time (all of which have diamonds in it), I'm more likely to accidentally bump the stones against each other and get a scratch on my diamond. No bueno!
I only take my rings off when I'm cleaning or putting on moisturizer/hair products.
The first week i took it off to sleep or shower... now it only comes off for the hour a day I'm at the gym- and that is only because I kickbox... that would hurt like hell punching the bag with it on!!
I hardly ever wear mine at home. It usually goes into the jewelry box as soon as I get home.
I take mine off when I do dishes or am using harsh chemicals like bleach. And I'm a nursing student so I never wear it to clinical because I don't want to scratch a patient or get it dinged. Plus I wash my hands way too much and it gets grimy from the build-up.
When I get married I am going to get a plain wedding band to wear to work as a nurse.
I echo @Dancy, I only wear it at work or when I'm out. Otherwise it's in the box in came in on my dresser.
the jeweler store said that everybody should take off there wedding ring before they go to bed because just the little bit of rubbing your hands on the sheets or blankets wears down the metal faster.
I literally ONLY EVER take my ring off when I want to admire my hubs' engraving on the inside :)
shower and dishes. my sister lost hers down the drain, so i'm a bit of a freak about open areas and water around my jewelry, no matter how tight it is on my finger!
Cleaning and sometimes cooking and sometimes working out! But then again I don't work out much, sadly, and even when I do, I usually forget to take it off! I used to be much more alert and cautious about the whole thing, but I guess you could say I just don't like to take it off!
I take mine off when I'm horseback riding and have the FI hold it for me. Other than that it's on me!
I don't ever take my rings off. Is that bad? Well, I'm the type of person who if I take jewelry off, I may forget to put on again. Plus, I know it won't get lost, if it's always on my finger.
I get my inspected every 6 months and they check to make sure none of the prongs are lose. The ring is also certified so if I do lose the diamond, they will replace it.
I take mine off to sleep or shower, or if I'm cleaning with something that might hurt it. I wish I could sleep with it on but i sleep with my hands under my pillow and my head on them so when i've tried iw ake up with numb fingers. boo
I take mine off constantly... seems like it's on more than off.
I take it off to sleep, wash dishes, put on hand lotion, work out, blow dry my hair, anytime at work that I have to put on powdered rubber gloves, when I cook....
I've never been a big jewelery person, so it's taking some getting used to!
My FMIL is in the jewelry business so I asked her what you're supposed to do, when I first got engaged. She said to take it off a lot - whenever you sleep, cook, bake, clean, or do anything (ANYTHING) involving water. The idea is that if your stone pops out, you'll absolutely never find it in water. That means no showering or swimming or hot tubbing with it on.
Oh yeah, and traveling. I leave it at home on major overseas trips, and wear a small tanzanite ring instead. We do a lot of beach-bumming when we're on vacation and you don't want to wear your ring on the sand or in the ocean, and I'd be way too scared to leave it in the room, so I just leave it at home. Much more peace of mind. But I do get a thrill out of putting it on again when we return. I think for our honeymoon I'll probably just wear my wedding band, it will be much cheaper than my e-ring.
