My roommate told me that her mom has always taken it off when she goes to bed, and ever since I got engaged I've kept it on. I've taken it off when I'm swimming or in the shower- are there any other occasions where I shouldn't be wearing my ring??
I don't put mine back on in the morning until after I'm done getting ready b/c any hair styling products are not good for the metal.
i take my ring off when i get home and i put it back on before i leave the house. i was told its best to take it off when doing housework or gardening.
i take mi ring on when im going to shower and any messy situation like gardening or making cookies... but other than that i always carry my ring
I take my ring off when I go to sleep, when I shower, when I style my hair/put on lotions, when I cook, when I go swimming, etc
I take it off before bed & don't put it back on until after I shower and do my hair. Again like said above; I try not to get any lotions or sprays on it. I also take it off if I have to touch a lot of food with my hands while cooking.
I take off my ring a lot! LOL.
Usually when I'm doing the dishes I'll take it off. When I go to sleep every night I take it off (my fingers swell like crazy at night!) and put it on before I leave for work. I also take it off while I'm at the gym or when I'm running (swelling issues again).
Mainly I always wear it when I'm out and about, but a lot of the time at home it's off.
I take it off to work out, shower, and blow dry my hair (it pulls my hair otherwise). I always sleep with it on.
I don't wear my ring when I am with FI (we are LDR) but during the week, I usually sleep with it on (bad I know!) But I never shower with it on, or have it on when I put product in my hair. I don't really cook, put if I did, I would take it off then also
I don't wear my e-ring at home (unless people are over). I only wear my ring out in social situations & sometimes to work... as long as I don't have to get dirty! :)
I don't have an e-ring yet, so I never wear it :)
However I'll probably be similar and take it off when showering, getting ready, etc. Does anyone find it interesting that newly engaged people seem to take it off more often? I know my FMIL doens't take hers off when cooking or doing dishes, only when going to the pool and sometimes when getting ready in the morning.
My fiance gave me a promise ring before giving me my promise ring. So I wear my promise ring when I'm at home. As long as I'm not out in the dirt then I wear it when I'm at home. I wear my e-ring when I go out. I usually take it off the moment I walk in my room as my lab is still just a puppy and a chewer.
when i first got it i took it off to shower....then i just got lazy. lol but being a nurse u gotta take it off....i safety pin my ring to my scrubs or put it on a necklace. i rarely take it off since work requires i take it off so frequently
I take mine off when I sleep, shower, workout, and clean.
Mine comes off at night and goes back on when I am leaving the next a.m. On the weekends, my Fiance jokes " so, are you going to be single today?"b/c I forgot when I am out of the normal routine.

I know that I'm different, but I rarely take mine off unless I'm going into surgery (I work at the hospital) or I'm making something like meatloaf.
My fiance said that he bought the ring with the intention of me wearing it the majority of the time and that he wanted me "to get every penny out of that ring". He also said that he understands that the band may get a bit beat up, but concentrated much more on the stone than the band with the intention of upgrading the band someday. Both of our mothers wear their rings all the time so I've followed their lead. Plus, it feels really weird not having it on!
I take it off at night and put it back on after I've done my hair in the morning. The oils from the products are not good for the metals or sparkle of the diamond.
I never wear mine at home! And occasionally I forget to wear it out. I didn't want a ring and while I LOVE mine, Mr. KM knows it doesn't mean anything- I just don't like rings and it gets caught on stuff.
I take it off when I sleep, shower, cook/bake, clean, workout, paint, or do any beauty routines. Oh! And when I do yard work.
wow, I'm interested to see all these posts!! I've never taken my ring off! I wear it ALL the time, in the shower, swimming, baking, cooking, everything...maybe I should be more cautious! I tend to scratch my FH a lot with it, the prongs stick out quite a bit and are a little sharp...perhaps he would prefer if I didn't wear it around him lol
I take mine off for showering, bedtime, cooking and cleaning, and sometimes just randomly throughout the day if my finger feel particularly swollen. I think you're mainly supposed to remove it when dealing with chemicals, like cleaning solutions, lotions, etc.
I'm definitely like KM, I don't really wear it when I'm just sitting at home because I end up hurting myself or banging it on things and sometimes forget when I go out but not much.
oh i realize my last post seems like i dont wear it ever with FI! Only when we are sleeping!! even if i sit in my pjs all day long i still will wear my ring!
Like others, I take mine off when I sleep, shower, and clean. If FI sees me with it on while I'm cleaning, he reminds me to take it off. When I call him before bed, he also asks me if I've remembered to put my ring away. He wants me to wear it as much as I can, but he's worried it will get damaged if I sleep in it or use it during cleaning (or that it'll end up falling down the drain if I'm showering or washing dishes, etc). I really want to wear it ALL of the time, so I feel weird taking it off at times.
I wear mine all the time. It never comes off unless it's getting cleaned. My mom never took hers off either. Plus, it hurts to take it on/off all the time. Rubs the skin raw on my finger as its a snug fit
rachael made me realize something! I ALWAYS wear it around my FI! I only take it off to sleep. I guess when we're married & living together I'm going to have to always wear it then too! I'd better start getting used to it (a year and a bit after engagement).
Im so surprised that so many women take their rings off all the time! I NEVER take my ring off - unless I am getting it cleaned or like last week when we went to a foreign country and I didnt feel comfortable traveling with it. Other than that I always wear it - I dont know why I wouldnt! I wear it in the shower, pool, doing dishes, working out, doing my hair, sleeping, etc. It feels really weird to not wear ring...I get "phantom ring". Plus, if I took it off all the time I would either probably lose it or forget to put it back on!
Def off when I make meatloaf... like some other bee's, lol! And I dont wear it at work when i am bartending, but I wear it when I am waitressing. I hear that the bleach tablets that we use for sanitizing are NOT good for diamonds or enhanced diamonds. But since I don't do dishes when I waitress I always wear it then.
But if it's not on my hand it is around my neck on a chain! (strong chain)
I never take my ring off! I am surprised to read all the people who do take theirs off so often! I feel naked without my ring..I may take it off if i am doing something super messy, but most of the time it stays on. I did see a lot of concerns with chemicals on the ring, while some super strong items may be harsh on the metal, you have to remember how hard & tough a diamond is...i would say that most people aren't going to be handling chemicals with their bare hands that are so intense they would harm a diamond before hurting your skin. =) side note: I have been told that ammonia can cause gold to break down over time, but not a concern with platinum. I clean my ring in 1 part ammonia & 6 parts water.
I take mine off at home for bedtime and put it on after I'm ready (hairstyling etc.) and for when I go to work in a lab setting. I like to have really tight gloves, and I don't want the ring to rip them! I also don't wear it when I play contact sports...I know someone who lost her wedding band when she took off her softball glove. That's not happening with mine, if I can help it!
I take my e-ring off when I go to bed and when I shower.
I take it off when i shower, clean, and work out. But not when I sleep.
I can't speak for an e-ring yet, but I have my garnet that I wear every day. I have no idea how some of you ladies keep your rings on all the time! It would drive me crazy, haha. Plus it's not good to wear jewelry all the time anyway. No gem or piece of jewelry is indestructible; even diamonds get chipped and develop bearded girdles. I take my ring off when I sleep, shower, do chores, garden, work out, etc. That way my jewelry will stay in top condition much longer, I don't worry about damaging it, and it doesn't get in my way. :)
mine hasn't come off since he put it on my finger...I slide it down my finger to put lotion on, but that's as far as it goes...
The only time I take mine off is when I'm showering (because it is a hair too big), lotioning, or making cookies. Otherwise this ring does not leave my finger. Oh, and I take it off when I'm painting.
I never take my ring off. It makes me nervous when its not on,like i will lose it or miss place it!! That would not be a good thing!!!
I take if off when I shower, sometimes when I sleep, when I clean or know my hands will get messy. If I do wear it off, I wear a silver ring he gave me while we were dating in place of my engagement ring. And if I'm sitting around the house, I interchange between the engagement ring and the silver ring. Though, I dont like how the engagement ring sits in its box all day...hehehe :)
i take it off for sleep, shower, swimming, and if i'm cooking something that gets my hands gross. i always keep my wedding band on though.
