- Wedding: October 2013
I’m planning a bridal shower for a friend and the RSVP deadline is less than a week away. We are still missing about 20 of 50 responses, many of whom don’t actually know the other hostess or I personally (therefore, I have none of their contact info nor do I see them regularly). I don’t foresee getting more than a couple more responses through email, since it’s been almost two weeks since we heard from anyone.
So what happens when we pass the deadline? Do the outstanding responses default to “not attending”? Should I ask the bride’s parents, who compiled the invite list, to start chasing down their relatives while I chase down the bride’s friends? And what about the bride’s future-extended-in-laws (aunts, cousins of her FI), who we have no contact info for beyond an address? Who chases them down?
For my wedding, we were only missing about 5 of 125 after the deadline passed and it was easy to chase down the outstanding responses. I’m kind of in shock that so many people wouldn’t respond at all for this.
