Hey Bees! I was curious as to when, or if, you take off your e-ring or wedding set? A recent comment about being worried about losing the ring in the shower or at the gym made me wonder how many bees wear their ring at all times.

I personally take mine off to sleep, and then put it on again in the morning after my shower. Mainly because I was told that rubbing on the sheets can weaken the prongs and increase the chance of losing your diamond. That, and I sleep with my hands by my face, I'd probably poke my eye out! Haha. I also dislike when my fingers swell when I'm at the gym, so I usually leave my e-ring at home and wear a larger sized ring I received from FI when we were dating, sort of as a 'placeholder.'

So bees, when do you take your rings off? Do you go without them in public, like at the gym? For what reasons do you take them off/never take them off?

I take my e-ring off when I'm showering, sleeping, working out or cleaning.  Wedding band only when I shower.

Honestly, I take mine off as soon as I get home.  It has a very high setting, and I am always hitting it on things.  I am also a clean freak, so I use a lot of chemicals that I don't want to expose my pretty too.  I always put it on when I leave the house, even if it's just to check the mail.

I take my e-ring off when I cook, shower, clean, get ready in the mornings...it's basically only on when I'm at work or out of the house. Lounging around the house, I prefer to have it off. Wedding band only comes off when I shower. I wear that sucker everywhere!

Ditto for lotion...It grosses me out to get it all over the ring.  But nothing else.  I even wear it to play soccer.

I take it off when I clean, shower, exercise, and work.  I used to wear it to work but working in a group home sometimes the situation isn't fun and I have to take it off anyway and I don't want to lose it so I wear my promise ring in it's place (lower, simpler ring so I don't have to take it off).

I've recently started taking mine off at night or when I'm cleaning or washing dishes. I had a stone to fall out of my invisible setting and was told by the jeweler that I had to be extra careful because of this setting. Now I'm paranoid and am constantly looking at my ring to make sure I haven't lost another stone!

I take my e-ring off when I shower, work out, and washing dishes.  I'm actually more afraid of it falling off than getting dirty!  We sent both e-ring and wedding band to get resized smaller after we got engaged but it still slides around my finger a bit and makes me nervous.

I only take it off when I shower, put lotion on, cleaning with chemicals or cooking something that I have to get my hands into (meatballs, kneading dough).  A few weeks ago after taking a shower I forgot to put it back on and then we headed out to meet friends for dinner, we were half way to the restaurant when I realized and made FI turn back around so I could get it.  He thought I was being silly but I felt completely lost without it.

I can't even wear my engagement ring right now because I jammed my finger and the knuckle is so swollen that my ring won't fit. :/ But when I did wear it, I would put it on after my morning shower, and take it off when I went to bed at night. I would also take it off while exercising or doing kickboxing.

Showering, gardening, household chores that my hands get messy or require cleaners, sleeping, cooking if my hands will get messy, swimming, etc.

Pretty much if I'm doing something that I have a higher chance of losing or damaging it, I take it off.

I WISH I could leave it on all the time, but alas I take mine off as well.  I take it off for sleeping (saving my face from scratches!), cleaning (no harsh chemicals!), yard work, putting on lotion, or showering (it catches in my hair when I wash it).

I don't take it off very often, but working with raw meat, heavy duty cleaners, and working out are my main reasons for doing so. I don't worry about it falling off or getting damaged when I work out, it's just that my fingers swell so much that it gets uncomfortable. Sometimes I'll take it off to put lotion on but more often that not I just kind of hold that finger up. I do hate the feeling of lotion on it when it gets in all the crevices.

I take mine off when showering, doing dishes, and when using lotions or beauty product. Most other times I leave it on, unless I'm doing a particularly messy craft project.

I don't have my ring yet, but there are a few things I know I'll take it off for:

    1) I'm a potter.  Wet clay everywhere just doesn't go well with rings, and rings can catch the clay and ruin the shape anyway.  I'll take it off whenever I'm working in my studio.

    2) I'm an actress.  Specifically, I perform at a renaissance festival.  Unless I ever play a character in the upper nobility, which I haven't so far, my costume will demand that I go without my ring.  I'm very hard on my body and my clothes out there anyway, so even if I were playing a character that could wear gold and gemstones, I would seriously consider taking off my ring anyway just to keep it safe.

    3) When I wash my face.  I don't like the feeling of metal rubbing against my skin when I'm trying to wash it.

    4) When I put on lotion.

I'll probably find a few other times to take it off when I have the ring, but I'll wear it most of the time otherwise.

I remove mine when I sleep, shower, work out, garden or cook/bake.  My center stone is an aquamarine, though, so it can look dirty easily if I don't take it off for especially messy tasks.

I take mine off when I'm sleeping, showering, doing dishes, cooking, etc. Most of the time if I'm just hanging out around the house, I'll take it off. Otherwise, it's always on.

Whenever I'm at home. I absolutely make certain to take it off when I wash dishes, cook, shower, and sleep. It's much better for the rings to avoid subjecting them to all that stuff. Diamonds need light in order to sparkle, and when dirt gets caught in the setting you lose that dazzle. Plus, stones come loose sometimes, and you'll never find a lost stone in water.

My husband keeps his on at all times except when he washes dishes. I do not know why he takes it off to wash dishes, but keeps it on in the shower. Not to mention in bed - that'd just be uncomfortable to me. But he likes it.

I was actually wondering this the other day. FI does not think I should sleep with my e-ring on, but I do not like to take it off. Right now, I only take it off when I am washing dishes or taking a shower. I have to wear rubber gloves often for work, but have not had a problem (yet!) with my ring breaking through. If that ever happens, I will just wear the band to work.

I take it off whenever I put on lotion, workout, cook, or wash dishes. I take it off sometimes when I go to sleep and take a shower in the morning--those two depend on how tired I am for me to remember to take it off haha.

I take mine off whenever I house clean, shower, or fence (I'm a competitive fencer, so I don't want someone's sword hitting my ring!)

I usually just take it off when I'm cooking something really messy.  But generally I like staring at it :-)  And twisting it around.

I never take it off unless I am helping someone move or do yardwork or messy crafts. I actually banged it pretty hard one day and scared myself to death.

Eta when I start my route I will actually only wear nothing or my bands. The e ring sits really high.

I NEVER take mine off. I feel so naked/paranoid without it. Naked because, well, that bad boys been on my finger for almost 3 years straight. And paranoid because I am constantly (subconsciously) touching my ring finger to make sure the rings still there and when it's not, I freak!

I only take it off when I shower. But yet I wear it to do dishes or cleaning. I don't like it getting caught on my hair when I shower. I even filleted fish wearing my ring. It was so filled with gunk, it was gross! But really, what's the point of having the ring unless you wear it with what you normally do! That's why I didn't want a HUGE ring.

I only take it off to put on lotion.  Sometimes when doing a lot of dishes.  Otherwise I'm probably more likely to lose it somewhere if I took it off a lot.
