I want to go to Sandals! hehe :). I was wondering if any of you had booked your honeymoons already? If not, when are you planning on doing that? We haven’t even thought about it yet but we have been looking at places.

My fiance is a teacher and we are getting married in October, during the school year. So originally, we thought we weren’t getting a “real” honeymoon, but would take a vacation some other time during a school break. (ie. the most expensive and most crowded time to go) But now my future husband thinks he’ll be able to get permission to take some time off, but he just wants to wait until he gets his new contract for next year. Then once he teaches one day next year, he’ll be tenured. So with all that said, hopefully by May-June we’ll be able to book. We’re looking at a cruise to Bermuda from New York that leaves the day after our wedding.

We’re getting married in June 2011 and the honeymoon isn’t booked yet. We’ll be leaving on June 27th, we just can’t be bothered with one more thing to do right now and its really not that difficult to book flights and hotel. You have all the time in the world!

We’re getting married in June 2011 and booked it in January. Check out other all inclusives besides Sandals. You can get a lot more for your money with the same amenities. We’re going to Secrets Wild Orchid and it’s $1,000 less for a much nicer room and resort in general. We have an ocean front balcony with a hot tub on the balcony. Private dinner on the beach, champagne breakfast in bed our first day there, more than one brand of wine (Sandals only provides Beringer wines, and only one brand of rum…can’t remember the name), room service has a menu that’s included in the all inclusive, Sandals doesn’t include any room service, and 2 free nights on our one year anniversary. There’s numerous adult only options out there, Couples, Secrets, Excellence etc. You might want to avoid Beaches for your honeymoon, it’s Sandals’ family friendly resort so they encourage children to come.

I know this is in the June 2012 Board, but I figured I’d answer anyway! We booked our flights about 10 months ahead of time because we are using my FILs miles and wanted to make sure we got the flights we wanted.
We finished booking our hotels about a month ago (about 7 1/2 months in advance) because we found hotels we loved with great cancellation policies.
I do think it depends where you are going and where you plan on staying. For us, some fo the hotels had very few rooms, and we wanted to be sure to get our choice of room. Plus, some hotels gave discounts for booking over 6 months in advance. I’ve never stayed at an all-inclusive though, so I’m sure there are some differences. Good luck and have fun planning =)

I told my FI he is in charge of the honeymoon. With the way he procrastinates I’ll be lucky if he books something a month before the wedding. 😉 All I ask is that it is an all-inclusive in the Caribbean, the rest is up to him!
But… if it was up to me, I would have booked that bad boy already!!

@TinyTina: you said it! I put my FI in charge of the honeymoon too, it’ll probably be May of 12 and he’ll be like…”so what’s going on with the honeymoon?” lol
The fun thing is I don’t know where we’ll go! We’re between Turks & Caicos, Hawaii, or the Amalfi Coast, so we can’t really go wrong!

Our honeymoon is already booked! Much earlier than I expected! My grandmother is letting us use a week of her time share in St Martin as a wedding present, and she already reserved the week! So excited! Can’t even book flights yet!

My FH and I have the luxury of having a close friend with a brother who lives in Italy. We’re going to be doing a house swap, so that we can have his place to ourselves. So as we only have to pay for flights we’re literally going to wait until 2 or 3 days before to get last minute flights for cheaper prices 🙂

I’m not a June bride, but FH and I are going to be booking ours by June. We’re going to the mountains for our minimoon since I’ll be starting school again a week after our wedding. We don’t really have to do it so early, but I’m dying to do something for the wedding : )

I have a feeling we’ll do a mini-moon then go on a grand HM for our one year anniv. Nothing’s set in stone though, we have a year to figure it out!!

I’m hoping to book by Sept/Oct. Started talking to a travel agent but they couldn’t even price out flights until about 11 months before. I’m hoping for a New Zealand/Bora Bora honeymoon. It will be winter in NZ and we really like that we’ll get 2 different seasons on our HM.

I think we booked ours 4 weeks ago? Were going on a cruise to the Bahamas… I am way too excited for this! (1st cruise for us both)

@mjm2012: Yay for a NZ honeymoon! PM me if you have any questions!
We’re hoping to do a minimoon to Australia shortly after we get married and will look at booking that around the beginning of next year. We also want to do a full-on honeymoon to the States at the end of 2012 but how much we do will be dependent on where we are financially after the wedding… so we’ll look at booking it July next year.
