We got a temporary copy of ours, but in order for us to receive an official copy that you need for use at the secretary of state & social security office I had to actually go to the office of deeds to pick it up. Or we could have ordered it offline. Did you order it? In MI we have to pay like $15 for the official copy.
We didn't have to, in NYS it apparently gets mailed right to us. That much I did remember our officiant saying!
Hmmm in California, you get a marriage license first before your wedding. That's the piece of paper your officiant signs saying you are officially married. Then you mail in your license and pay like $14 for a marriage certificate. They told me it takes 6-8 weeks, but we got ours in about 2 weeks.
I received my marriage license back in the mail a week after the wedding.
Oops, you're right ddubzz- I meant marriage CERTIFICATE. I was tired last night, forgive me :) We got the license before the wedding, all parties signed it and our officiant mailed it out for us.
So, what I'm waiting for is my marriage certificate. Do you think it should of been here by now? I don't want to bother the officiant just yet, or should I?

I'm just curious to know, in average, how long it takes to receive your marriage license. I'm sure every state is different, we just haven't gotten ours yet. I'm in no rush (though for some reason the people in my adminstration office are) I just want to make sure its not lost in transit somewhere! I know my officiant mentioned a time frame on the wedding day but lets face it... we didn't retain a thing!
