I have been a loyal Pantene user since December 2001 and have never purchased anything different. Well, for the first time on Monday, I bought (gasp) Sauve. I was completely out of shampoo and conditioner and out of money. I remember now why I made the switch in the first place. Hello, Bad Hair Day!
When it comes to shampoo and conditioner, is anyone else brand loyal? What influences your purchase if not? What do you use?

@shortie1848: I’m a sucker for packaging and advertising so I buy a different type everytime I’m out. When it was near wedding town I really looked into products that were supposed to prevent breakage and have been using Dove Intense Repair since then.

@shortie1848: I pretty much only use Joico. Their KPak line is the best thing that’s ever happened to my hair. Of course, it’s also expensive and the only reason I get to use it is my friend works for them and gets me huge discounts on top of giving me bottles in discontinued packaging.

I switch it up every once in a while just to give my hair a break and a refresher. I’m using Healthy Sexy Hair right now, I really like the purple Redken, too. I buy the giant bottles at ULTA and usually switch every couple bottles (which is 6-7 months).

These days I buy the throwback Herbal Essences because I just love the smell.. it smelled good in the 90s and smells the same now lol. Good memories.
I’d buy salon products if I wasn’t so cheap. I used to buy salon products but in the end I wanted to spend money on other stuff instead. Sometimes I treat myself to Bumble and Bumble.. the coconut kind smells fantastic. I’d say that I buy shampoo/conditioner by smell more than anything else.

My FMIL has her cosmo lisence, so she gets me those HUGE bottles of salon brands for the same price as pantene. (the big bottles with a pump are usually $10-15) I switch all the time based on her recommendations.
It’s not that often though, because those big bottles last me about 8-10 months.

Yes! I’m now a big time Aveda user and won’t use anything else. It’s the only thing that made my thinning hair get thick again.

When I color my hair red, I use Herbal Essences. 99.9% of the other time I use Pantene Ice Shine. I was devastated when they stopped producing it and am SO glad they brought it back.

I’ve got really bad allergies to beauty products, so when I find something that works I stick with that exact product for as long as I can. I haven’t had to change shampoos in at least 5 years. It was a bit of a crisis for me when they discontinued my deodorant, I went through about 5 sticks in 2 months before I found a new one I wasn’t allergic to and actually worked as deodorant.

I switch between store brand and salon brand. I use Aveda as much as possible, but if I’m poor, I’ll buy a store brand. I used to use Joico as a poor substitute, and every stylist I went to gave me crap – so now I switch between Aveda and Pantene/Clear.

I go for cheap (so the best price per ounce) and try for ones without things I’ve found hard on my hair. I actually recently started using Suave (ones from their ‘professional’ line, although I doubt it’s pro quality) and like it – everyone’s hair reacts so differently to things. My husband and I use the same stuff in the shower so I just buy whatever big bottles work for my hair, ha.

@shortie1848: Okay your third choice for this poll made me giggle 🙂 I love trying new brands but I typically use Agadir Argan Oil both shampoo and conditioner. Before I started using that I really love Dove products. They smell awesome and I didn’t think the shampoo dried my hair out.

I used to use Pantene. My hair stylist thought I used something “better” (more expensive) because my hair was always in great condition. But one time I bought differently because they didn’t have the Pantene I usually used and I went with Tresemme. I still use it fairly exclusively, especially for shampoo. I was using Redken conditioner for a while but my back started breaking out, which was suuuper unusual for me. I just stopped using it. I’m still not sure if it was some steroid epidurals I got or if it was the conditioner, since the switch happened at the same time as the epis.

I use Herbal Essences. I don’t care so much about what kind of shampoo I use, but for conditioner I have not found anything better than Herbal Essences. My mother is a hairstylist so I can get salon products for next to nothing, but to be honest with you I have not found a salon product that works nearly as good on my hair as HE, haha. I know that sounds crazy but its true.
