FI has been sick with a cold for three weeks.

Last week, he told me he couldn’t go to the doctor for medicine because he was CONVINCED the doctor would tell him it was cancer.

It’s called “The Man Flu”. My husband gets it every time he catches a cold. wink

I find this funny because in my house, I am the wimp and my husband hardly bats an eye! I still do what I have to do…but I am much more likely to whine!

My FI is actually pretty good at being sick. I mean he won’t take his medicine (he prefers to tough it out and suffer) but he’ll go to the doctor without a fight. He doesn’t really even complain. The only thing that changes when he gets sick is that he likes to cuddle and be coddled a bit lol, its actually pretty cute.

Dh doesn’t complain or exaggerate when he’s sick, but he refuses to take medicine which bothers me the most. He cannot call in sick to his job, so I know popping some DayQuil would help get him through his days but he will refuse to take anything! Another thing he does while sick is not take it easy and rest. He will go about his daily routine and make himself more sick because his body has no chance to recover!!

I feel bad for thinking he is exaggerating, but yeah – H has had a cold he won’t treat properly (rest, fluids), but complains about how bad he feels, how tired, and how upset he is that he is sick.  I tell him to rest, “I don’t know what that means.”  When I am sick enough to stay home, I know I need sleep, so if stay home, I make sure to sleep in, eat something, then go back to bed.  He is like a toddler about being in bed, especially when tired, and fights it, so he’s exhausted but playing video games or puttering around the house, and I’m like “go to sleep!!!”.  Meanwhile, I catch a cold, and still do chores and keep uo with stuff, and if I’m not contagious, go to work.

londonhoneybee :  I feel the same way, the words of how sick or the level of pain my DH will express doesn’t match his actions, one moment he thinks he needs to go to the emergency room and the next he’s just nipping down to the shop to buy some food?! What?! 👀😂

And any minor sniffle warrants a request of chicken soup 😂

Hes also prone to “feeling really weak” if he hasn’t eaten for just a little while ☺️

This is very similar to my exes, so I’ve come to think that this is a man-thing.

londonhoneybee :  FI is off sick today. Currently lying in bed with a big furry hat on, covered in blankets. I’ve been up and down all day making him lemsips and soup!

londonhoneybee :  My DH is the same. Goes down like a tranquilized elephant. It’s like the world has ended. I prop him up with pillows, powerade, tissues and video games and let him have his pity party. He’s incapable of most things.

I was sick this weekend. Still got up, did the dishes, started laundry and swept. Later I even Ironed.

THEN DH made a comment that he thought I was faking it to get out of house work. I almost smacked.

Survivor of a recent two week man-flu right here. As soon as he was finally better and I stopped waiting on him, he announced he probably had pneumonia. 😷🤒👷🏼

And now that I’m sick, he says he has the same thing RIGHT NOW but is powering through. 😁😂 (note, even though I’m sick I’ve had to clean, etc though he didn’t make it out of bed for at least 10 days)

other than this, he’s very sweet and caring. But oh my god he’s annoying when sick.

londonhoneybee :  yup. They wont go to the doctor unless they are dying… cause they’re “tough” but when they get a cold… they act like they are dying. UGH.
