I am getting married in June 2010, and have already went with my BM to pick out dresses, and they all agreed on the same dress. They have not ordered them yet, but the salon has said they need to order them by the end of January.
ok, so that's five months for you? (did i calculate correctly?) I guess then the end of March for me. when did you go to start looking?
I am getting married in March 2011 and I already have mine picked out and the fabric purchased. I am making the dresses because I couldn't find a look in the price range that I was willing to spend. All the gowns I wanted for my girls were in the 4 to 5 hundred dollar price range.
My wedding is in July and I called around to see what the stores thought I should do; They all said to come no later than Feb. So you might wanna go no later than March! It takes a few weeks to get the dresses made/delivered and then you want to be sure the girls have enough time for alterations!
I am also getting married early August 2010, and still have not made a choice on the BM's dresses. I have been searching, and will probably make a decision by January, so that the girls have enought time to order by March the latest. Hope this helps.
My wedding's in July and my bridesmaids are starting to look for their dresses now.
My bridesmaid dress is picked out but we haven't ordered them. We plan to do that by Janurary and my wedding is June 26 2010
My wedding is September 2010 and we've already picked the dresses, the girls should have their order in by late January. It's early, but it worked for us!
just made my dress(es) choice and one has ordered, i plan on having the rest to choose and order by the end of january. oh and i'm july 2010
My wedding is end of August and the order just went in for BM dresses.. It went in Dec. 1st and I was told they should arrive in April so it is plenty of time for alterations. The earlier the better I think.
Great, thanks everyone! Now I know it's not "too soon."
I set a date with my MOH and one of my bridesmaids to go down to the shop on Sunday Jan 24, I just have to let my other bridesmaids know.
Hello Bridepower!
It's a great idea to look online and get an idea of what you might like before going to the store with your maids, too. Many of our brides do that and head to the store with ideas in mind. And yes, for a summer wedding, we recommend orders be put in 4 months ahead of the wedding (and most of the other bridesmaid designers do too).

Happy shopping!
I am getting married July 3rd, I picked out my girls dresses and was told to allow 4 months for them to come in and a month for fitting/alteration so I asked them to order them by the end of Jan. I would pick something out as soon as possible so they have time to budget for and locate/order the dress :) Have fun and good luck :)
i am getting married 07/17/10. i am having my dresses made and all the girls will be going for their fitting in january. i just wanted to give the seamtress enough time plus she's making my dress along with my daughter. i decided to start early because in june, i just wanna chill. hopeful thinking right?
I am also getting married July 17th and my girls dresses have to be ordered no later than the end of January, so you should have them set to be ordered sometime in February. They need time to order the dresses, get them in and have alterations done.
I would say early March, hopefully by then they have newer styles to pick from also.
thanks everyone! actually, being a little anxious to do it "on time," i have set it up for January 24th, a sunday. so far my MOH and one of my bridesmaids can do it. as long as my MOH can go, that's the date i'm going. the others can come or they don't have to.
I'm getting married on 7/31 (7 months from tomorrow!) and we started shopping in October, decided on a dress in November and all but one of the BM's ordered. My MOH and the flower girl have also ordered theirs. I was told by the salon where they bought their dresses (priscilla of boston) that we needed to order by the end of this year to be safe, though they said 5 months which would be Feb. I kinda wish i waited a bit but now it's just done and we don't have to think about it which is good I guess!
I think you'll be fine with shopping in Jan and ordering sometime around then.
I have the same time frame as you and have already picked out what I want them to do. They have a small choice, and one of the dresses doesn't come out until January, so I'm giving them until no later than March 1 to make a decision & order.

Hello!
My wedding is mid-August 2010. When should I start looking for bridesmaid dresses? I have heard different things. I called David's Bridal and they said 6-7 months.
If they're still in style, I'm probably going to get short dresses (meaning to the knee) so that they'll be comfortable since it will probably be hot.
Thoughts on time frame?
