    I'm getting married on June 23rd- when is the latest my dress should be ordered? We're doing a DW in Turks & Caicos so I'll need it a week before but it seems like most everyone posting here already has there's ordered.  Starting to panic. Advice please! :)

    Hi!  I'm also a June 2012 bride.  I ordered my dress about a week ago, and the salon told me that 8 months before was the standard  The dress comes in 2 months before, and then are two fittings.  But my Knot book of wedding lists says to aim to buy your dress 6-8 months before, so I think you have some time.  And of course it also depends on whether you're buying a sample or need alterations, and probably on the designer as well.

    Good luck - I had a blast dress shopping and I'm slightly jealous that you still have it to look forward to!  Let us know what you find!

    I've also heard that you should get your dress 6-8 months in advance. I'm planning to look in early October.

    Depends on the bridal shop you choose and the dress you want... I've heard of some taking 8 months to arrive and others only taking 2 months. (remember you'll need some time for a few fittings) You can also buy dresses off the rack so depending on what your looking for you can wait a really long time or start looking whenever you want now =)

    Our wedding date is the same as yours! We found my dress in March =)

    I'm a June bride and I ordered my dress in March.  I went a little early because I wasn't expecting to find anything, but I did.  Mine took until the end of June to come in so you might want to go ahead and look! :)

      I agree with everyone else--it all depends on the dress! I went looking during a time that I thought was really early (July), and I was told that my dress would take 9 months. I am hoping that the consultant padded the time. There is some beading on my dress, but not a ton.

      I agree with the previous posters--I am slightly jealous that you still get to shop! I'm just going to have to enjoy shopping with my bridesmaids for their dresses :-).

    I've been shopping (alot) but I don't plan to order until October as I hope to be down one dress size by then, which will be closer to where I'm hoping to be for the wedding so less major alterations.

    Most salons have told me 6 months for the dress then 2 more months for alterations. My wedding is June 30th and I need it at least a week before because the wedding is in a different state then the one I live in.

    I'm a June 2012 bride and started looking in march. I had a custom alteration dOne and was told it can take up to 3-4months on top of the original 5 months. Mine was Done early (picked it up last week). I think you should start looking now , the latest I would order it is December. I think it's safe to say that looking for your dress early rather late will save you some stress. Excited too see your dress journey posted on here, everyone's very helpful if you arnt sure of which dress you like :).

    The least amount of time any bridal shop has told me was 8 months is the best to be comfortably sure the dress will be ready, and I've been to a lot of stores. So for us June brides, that would be about October.  I've been looking since March on and off (benefits of a long engagement :P) but I found one last week and I'll be ordering soon. Also, I'm indecisive and took forever to decide so if you think you'd be the same, start looking now. If you're more decisive, then you have a couple months :)

    I got my dress in June because the dress I wanted went up $200 on the first of July.  I felt it was a little bit early, but I knew I liked my dress, and didn't want to end up not being able to get it (the $200 would have pushed me out of my budget).  I am supposed to get it sometime in October.  I was also told when I was looking, that as soon as you know what dress you want to order it, not wait because the designers typically raise their prices in the fall sometime (or summer in my case).

    I started dress shopping in Feb and finally purchased my dress a month ago, it arrives on the 20th of March. I cut it a bit fine, I had consultants say to me 'Ohhh your running out of time at several stores'. The dress I chose has an eight month wait. It depends if you want a couture gown made (8 to 14 months before) buy off the rack (4 to 10 months before), buy a sample (Can buy that day) or purchase a second hand dress (time frame will vary).

    Also each designer has a different time frame and style delivery times can vary a bit. For example Maggie Sottero gowns generally take 4 to 6 months. I would start looking to get an idea of what you would like and go from there. As the other bees have already mentioned you will need two months for alterations unless you are having a couture gown made. Let us know what you find and have HEAPS of fun!!!!

    @sassypants:

    As others have said, it completely depends on the dress, and whether you're ordering it or buying off the rack. I actually ordered my dress in January and got it the beginning of July, and I'm also June 2012, but I had known for almost a year before we got engaged what dress I wanted! Don't let a nut like me freak you out, but it's probably safe to start shopping :-)

    I heard 8 months, I ordered mine in May, supposed to be here in January (so that's pretty far in advance). I'd say get it maybe by November?
