My wedding is April 9, 2011.  When should I actually order my invites?

And. when should I send them?  I'm afraid I am supposed to have ordered them already...

My wedding is April 23rd and we just picked the invitations out but haven't ordered them yet. We have to finalize our list first, which is really becoming a pain in the butt!! I believe the correct etiquette is 8-10 weeks before the wedding they should be sent out, but I might be wrong.

We just ordered the invites (already have ll the addresses from the save the dates so we just went ahead! no rush for others though!)  We are going to send them out in the beginning of february...with an rsvp by mid-march. Our wedding is on April 16...and we have a lot of out of town guests....so we wanted the invites to go out at least 2 months in advance....

My wedding is 3/5/11, and we just contacted an Etsy seller.  We should've done it a bit earlier b/c we're on a pretty tight schedule now.  If you're planning on going the custom route, I recommend doing it soon.  If you're ordering off of one of the websites (wedding paper divas, einvites, etc), you've got plenty of time.

I'm about a month before you, but we're sending ours out by Jan 15th and requesting RSVPs by Feb 12th.  Our venue needs a head count one week before, so that'll give us some time to bug stragglers and get our seating arrangements figured out.

Thanks ladies!  You made me feel better!  I am going to try and decide right now if I am using Weddingpaper Divas or ETSY- that way I can figure out how mission critical this is!

We are getting married on April 2, 2011 and I am planning on ordering them before Thanksgiving.  My plan is to send them out around 2/10 with a RSVP by 3/15.  I hope thats a enough time.  Does anyone what the usually turnaround time is for a calligrapher?

@enoh102: Wish I could help- I have NO IDEA!

I have another dilema.  My FI's parents are paying for the entire wedding.  So I know normally the invitation would state their names as they are the hosts- but I feel bad not incuding my parents at all, who I am VERY close with and my mom has been very involved with decisions and emotional support. On top of it- my parents are divorced so I can't just right their names together.

Do you guys think this sounds okay for the beginning of my invites?

    Jxxx and Cxxxxxx Axxxxxxxx
    along with
    Gxxx Hxxxxx and Sxxxx Hxxxxx
    invite you to share in
    The celebration
of the marriage of their children.....

If I were the parents paying I would not like that at all.

I think what you can do is type a nice thank you on the back of the program or say verbally what they have done for you in your rehearsal dinner thank-yous.

I just feel like it's not all about the money, so they should all be on there. I don't want to offend anyone though. I don't know. Embarassed

Can you word it like this

    Mr. & Mrs. His Parents

request the pleasure of your company

at the marriage of their son

    His Name

    to

    Your Name

    daughter of

    Mr. Dad's Name & Ms. Mom's Name

Saturday, the first of June etc.

I know typically the brides name goes first, but that's usually because her family is hosting.  I think that if his parents really are hosting the event, their names should go first.

@Helstrong: I have a small stationery design home business, and I've done it that way a few times for clients.  Everyone's included, but it's still clear who's officially hosting.  :)

@simplifiedbride: Awesome!  Thanks.  I am putting together some options to send to my in-laws to see what they think.  I am definitely including yours. I really appreciate it!

@simplifiedbride: So... I loved your wording. My FMIL however, stated she thought my name should go first. she actually liked the wording of my first idea (above) better.  DAmn..... I was so excited about your option. Back to the drawing boards.

Mine shipped out yesterday!  I think it's a little early but i would rather have them in my hand waiting to be sent then waiting for them to come to me.  I ordered online and it took only 2 weeks.
