I have no idea honestly haha I’m August 10, 2013 with many out of town guests as well and I was thinking of doing 8-12 months.

As soon as your date is set, you can send them. I suppose more than 1 year in advance is unnecessary, but other than that, the point is to let guests know as soon as possible to mark their calendar or put your STD somewhere visible for when the next calendar comes (magnets are great for this).

@kkish3:  I agree, 8-12 months is a good window.

I think we’re doing ours 12 months out, but it depends on when we get our engagement pictures back to use on them. I pretty much just need to pop a picture in the file, upload it, and have them printed, addressed, and sent out.

I’m planning on sending mine out around Valentine’s Day, so about 6 months ahead. Most people that are OOT already know when our date is, so I’m not too worried about giving them a ton of extra time 🙂 The only people who may not know are all local!

We sent ours out 6 months prior. If it is a holiday season or May/June (communions, confirmations, weddings) you might want to send earlier.

We are getting married this August 4th, we sent save the dates at the beginning of January. We wanted to give a lot of time because EVERYone has to go out of town on at least a 3 hour drive to get to where we are getting married and the area is a very popular summer destination around here so accomodations have to be booked far in advance.

We’re sending ours out 1 year in advance, but 80+% is OOT, and most by a plane ride vs a car ride. I think 6-8 months is normal unless you have a lot of OOT guests. We have a long engagement so there was really no reason to delay sending them.

I am also sending mine about 1 year before. Since we have been pretty busy and haven’t finished printing them might be closer to 10-11 months but 99% of our guests are out of town. I would say you can’t be too early, it gives guests advance notice.

Okay, so I read somewhere (pretty sure it was a bridal magazine) that said to send out save the dates 8 months before and then to send out the actual invitations 8 weeks before, but I mean, as long as it’s somewhere around that ballpark, I’m sure it’s fine. haha. I just don’t think I would send them out more than a year in advance. Seems like a bit much. Time will probably fly for us bride to be’s, but for other people maybe not so much and then they might completely forget or something… or maybe that’s just my thoughts! haha. Anyways, hope that helps! 🙂
