One of my great friends has agreed to do a reading for our wedding. My only question is when should it be in the ceremony timeline? I’ve seen special readings before the unity ceremony, before the minister starts, right after the minister introduces the couple. There are so many options and I’m sure that it will probably come down to personal preference but I wanted to hear from you what has worked and what hasn’t. Thanks for your suggestions!

We had two readings. Our ceremony went like this:
Acknowledgement of Family and Friends
Marriage Address (longest part of the ceremony)
Vows and rings
We wrote the majority of the ceremony ourselves. This is the order that made sense to us based on what we saw from other ceremonies.

@redheadem: That sounds about right.
We’re doing ours after the introduction and before the vows.

Thanks ladies! That is a big help and will help me in choosing what reading to have. I didn’t wan
t my friend reading something that didn’t go along with the flow of the ceremony.
