Does the paper run announcements every day, even on Holidays? I know of some papers that do it once a week.
@T-Rex: Just Sundays. They will run the announcements on holidays.
I think most people would be home for Christmas, but not necessarily New Years. I vote Christmas!
Okay! I would say Christmas, I think that sounds the best, and more people will be back home that day.
I have to say it wouldn't make a difference for me - I've never read engagement announcements in the paper, even before I switched to reading online.
@kay01: Totally agree (I still do, though!) We were thinking that parents would see it, too, and point it out.
None of my friends read the paper especially not on christmas day so I cant give mych advice
Does your paper let you pick the day? Some papers you submit your announcement and they can run it at any time.

Hi Bees! FI and I are both from the same hometown and thought around the holidays would be the perfect time to "announce" (in the paper) our engagement. Our logic is that our friends will be home from out-of-town to see it in person in the paper. This year, though, Christmas and New Year's Day will be on Sundays...pretty important days! People still read the paper on those days, though, don't they? Is it tacky to put it in there on important days? So here is our dilemma: Do we do it on Christmas Sunday, New Years Day, or wait until after the holidays all together?
