Have you spoken to them yet to find out how much they charge? They would prob be loosing a whole weekend of work, so that could get pricey. If you go with them, I would have them do a few sets. If you are going to have older people there, they would love to have some older rock to dance to. They will prob leave earlier than your younger friends, then after a few sets turn it over to the DJ and party down to the more clubby music.
For us, we are having a DJ for the ceremony music, cocktail hour and during dinner. The band will play for the whole reception, and the DJ will take over for the set breaks.
And yes, as PP stated bands can get extremely pricey. I would utilize them for as much as you can. We even have to pay for the bands travel since they have to leave another state early in order for them to make it for ours in time.

I am trying to work out a surprise for FH that his favorite local band would play our first dance song. I would love to have them play more, plus I would hate for them to set everything up just for one song but not sure when they would play. I have already booked a DJ so I am torn.
The band is awesome, plays older rock music
