Sooooo, today I finally hit the wedding planning wall. Didn’t think that would ever happen, but today it did. My fiance is constantly having sticker shock about how much things cost (though before we started planning, I TOLD HIM WHAT WE COULD GET FOR DIFFERENT PRICE RANGES). I am guessing he thought I was exaggerating or he wasn’t listening….lucky me. I’m tired of having to explain why things cost so much to him. Honestly I feel like we are getting good deals, because it really could be a lot more expensive for the quality vendors that we are using. Then there is my mother who all of a sudden is sympathetic to the wedding planner (whom has been doing much better lately), but still has moments of lagging communication. It’ll be three days before she will get back to me on an issue. For example if we talk Wednesday about meeting next week, I won’t hear from her till that Monday. When coordinating out of town schedules, that is a quick turnaround. So basically in that scenario nothing gets handled till that following week after Monday. A week and a half after initially talking about meeting. Is that normal? Though we aren’t in a major city, things do book up way in advance. So every time we push back a meeting, a vendor I want gets booked.
My fustration with all parties involved earlier today is that there is no sense of urgency. Everything is put off till the next week. This behavior is agitating the crap out of me! We have our photographer and the reception venue and a planner…that’s it. There are some legit reasons why we haven’t been able to get one or two things done, but for the rest there is no excuse. The planner is the professional here so of course I could just take her word for it that we are semi-on schedule. But. I just hate when a month goes by and nothing gets solidified and I’m looking at the to-do list that has only 3 out of 100 things marked off.
