It depends on where you’re traveling – where are you thinking about going? 6 months should be good, although if y’all can afford it you might find some good deals ~9 months in advance.

@jlpalumbo:  Have you considered Costa Rica? That is where we are gonna go.  Haven’t booked it yet cause we aren’t going until 4 months after the wedding.  I’ve never been, but I’ve heard nothing but great things about there.  We plan on going for  a week and spending part of that time at a resort on the beach and the other part by the Arenal volcano, where we can do all the adventure stuff(mountain biking, zip lining, hiking, white water rafting, etc) but also enjoy the natural hot springs in the area.

We booked at six months out. That was the earliest our travel agent could start getting deals and things. I think it was great timing, travel agent aside. 🙂

@jlpalumbo:  Nah, not yet.  Since we decided to wait until Feb 2013 to take our honeymoon I’ve put all my focus on the wedding.  I think next month(which will be 6 months till the honeymoon) we will go see a travel agent and see what kind of package she can put together for us.

At first I was kinda bummed about not going on my honeymoon right after the wedding.  Now I’m very relieved.  I’ve talked  to other couples that waited and they were glad they waited, said they were able to enjoy their honeymoon more.

@nursemel:  Oooh, are you getting the deal through travelbyjen?  They have awesome deals for that exact vacation – like $600 per person!

@WillyNilly:  No,never heard of it actually. But I will def have to look into it!  I like the idea of using a travel agent though so he/she can just book everything for me.  Plus usually with a travel agent you can just pay a deposit down on your trip and you just have to have it paid off by a certain time before the trip(at least this was the case the times I’ve used them).

Thanks for the info!

I booked mine 8 months in advance.

ETA: I could’ve waited until the 6 month mark, but I was REALLY excited.  Hahaha.
