We have our hearts set on a trolley to take everyone from a common meeting place – the shared parking lot of venue and hotel- out to the ceremony site and back. I have not put down a deposit yet. They only have 4 trolleys in the town. We are still over 7 months out. The trolley can only hold about 33 people. We have invited 49 but some of these were obligatory and will not come. We count about 14- 18 that won’t come. If we are just a few over the 33, then ArizonaGroom and I will have someone drive us. I would be dissapointed not to ride in the trolley, but it’s all about the guests, right?
Should I book the trolley and hope for the best or hold off?
How far in advance are you booking transportation?

I don’t know what people usually book for prom transportation but you are getting married right in the beginning of prom season – if trolleys are popular for proms in your town instead of limos, book it now. If you are set on it and have the funds to do so, I would contract it now

I don’t know the answer at all! But I just wanted to say that I’m glad you asked because I’m curious about it too!

- Wedding: June 2010 - Ceremony - First United Methodist Church; Reception - My parents' house!
I’d say book it. If you don’t, you could lose all trolley chances!

I also say book it! We are in a similar situation, booking an antique city bus for pictures that will return to the church to pick up guests and bring them to our reception…We have a quote and will be sending a check to confirm early October.

I say book it too! You know you want it and you don’t want to wait only to be disappointed when its not available. And you should definitely be on that trolley! I’m sure if you have a few extra people you can all work it out. Some people may want to drive anyway (I mentioned a shuttle and a few family members where like “I don’t need that, I’m driving”. I’d do it ASAP.

Why don’t you call them and make sure they have availability for your day. Tell them your problem and ask them for advice. They might let you reserve one without actually having to book it yet.

I would do it. You are right in the middle of prom season and transportation gets crazy booked then. We’ve already booked our transportation (limo from ceremony to reception, trolley from reception to hotel)

I would do it. They have special trolleys in our town and I know they book up way in advace, especially around events like the holidays and prom.

Thanks, everyone! I emailed them and they still had a trolley available and I negotiated only paying for an hour as a deposit and they will let me pay for the other 2 hours before the wedding. I feel much better knowing this is checked off my list. I don’t know why I am so hung up on the trolley, but a regular bus would not be the same. It will allow everyone a fun way to get to know each other and be an awesome photo opp as well.

I say book it. If you’re getting married at the start of prime wedding season then other brides might take your trolley!

I would think 3-4 months in advance is enough, but if you’re sure this is route you want to go, it can’t hurt booking earlier.
