Hey bees, when is the right time to change into the reception party dress and glittery heels that I have prepared to dance the night away? Even though my ceremony and reception are at the same venue, and I could change between the two events with ease, I’m torn because I kind of want my father-daughter dance pics in my wedding dress and I am sad at the idea of giving up the garter toss (imo it’s tacky to do that with a short dress on).
Any way to have my cake and eat it too?

I got changed after the cake cutting but it was a necessaty as I got badly sunburnt.

You already only get to wear the dress for one day, why would you want to cut it even shorter?

@Tiffmorris: I can’t dance in that dress, that’s why. It’s no longer fun if I can’t enjoy the recepton in it. Not to mention that even though it will be October, my wedding is outside in New Orleans and I will get hot!

I would do your father/daughter dance in the long dress, your first dance, and then the garter toss…and then go change once everyone’s attention is on everyone else and not just you guys.
