It isn’t too late.  We got engagement pictures done in October before out wedding in June and we were engaged for years before the pictures were taken.

Our first shoot was in March of this year.  We weren’t super happy but they worked.  But we had to re-budget, downsize, and move the wedding and so we ended up with a new photographer who wanted an engagement shoot so we’re having another one on November 7.  We got engaged in May of 2009.  I love getting the pictures of us and it’s a great way to interact with the photographer in my opinion.

It’s not too late. I don’t think there’s really a set time, since every couple uses them for different things. We had them taken, and we’re not doing an announcement in the paper. We did them more for us, and to try out our photographer before we signed for the wedding.

I’m doing mine 10 months out. However, both FI and I dont’ live in the same town as the wedding so we had to coordinate flights, availability, etc.

We just did ours last Wednesday and our wedding is also in April. There really is no set time on when you should get them done but I absolutely wouldn’t skip it 🙂

There is no etiquette here. We are also getting married in April, but had then done over the summer (we wanted the nice weather!).

You should ask your photography how quick the turnaround time is on e-pics. In case you want to use them in the wedding (like make a photo book of the pics as a guest books, display them, etc) you should get them done at least by then. Otherwise, you can get them done whenever! Winter is coming up, so you can decide if you want the fall backdrop, winter or spring!

We did ours today, and the wedding is in June. We wanted to be able to use them for save-the-dates. When we confirmed the photographers, we asked if we could get the shoot done while the leaves were still pretty and fall-like (this was about 2 or 3 weeks ago). Their original email back was that they were really booked up, and if we wanted leaves on the trees, we’d have to wait until spring!

Luckily for us, they managed to rearrange some things, and we did them this morning.

If we didn’t want them for save-the-dates, spring would have been fine too, I think.

I’m getting April and we are doing are e-pics next weekend.  I’ve known people who have taken their pics just a couple of months before their wedding.  Alot of people have them done earlier so they can use them for STD’s and Engagement notices.  Most photogs(like mine) can get you the pictures back within a week.  I’m so excited to take the pics!  You should definitely do it!
