We chose to have ours done in time to get prints to use as Christmas presents. Our photographers gave us a date for the latest our session could be and still have time to guarantee prints in time for Christmas, and we scheduled our session after that. I don't think there's an official "right time" - I've heard of 2 years before to the day before to the day after...so it's all what's right for you!
We did ours inthe fall...and I loved it! (mid october). I wanted to have a fall wedding, but since it wasn't possible, this was the next best thing.
I don't think you can take them too early...we took ours the day after getting engaged (though we didn't orginally intent it that way)
I would say do it whenever you feel most comfortable with the weather and scenery...and have fun!

I loooove photography. I loooove taking pictures. My FI not so much, however, i think i'd like to have an enagement photo session and use those for my save-the-date magnets that i've been thinking of doing.
That being said...knowing that the STD's have to be done within a certain time, and since I don't even have my stupid date yet in the first place.. do you think it matters when I do the e-pics? I am trying to scrounge up some $ to have a 2hr session while there are still leaves on the trees but I dont think it's going to work out that way for me.
Any advice? What did YOU do for your e-pics?
