I know TONS of people who have went off birth control right before and gotten pregnant right away. However, I also read on here about women who didn't start ovulating for 6+ month after going off. Therefore, I am playing it safe and going off early. I would rather know about problems before we TTC than after. I am just a planner like that though!
We got pregnant our first month off birth control. We totally expected it would take at least a couple months, but that's not how it happened:)
I went off of birth control right after the wedding, knowing full well it could take a while to get pregnant, we will be happy when it happens, but we aren't in a rush - if it takes a while more I won't mind.
My OB recommended going off the pill 3 months before TTC. Yes you can get pregnant right away but there was a physical reason behind it also. If I remember correctly it had something to do with the lining of your uterus having time to thicken or something.
That being said we went off the pill and got pregnant the following month with no problems. I say don't pull the goalie until you are ready for it to happen. You just never know how long or how quickly it will happen.
We went off once we decided to start TTC. We started trying right away and had our positive test about 7 weeks later. I wasn't tracking my cycles, and thought I had two cycles in that time frame, but might have only had one.
I'm guessing you mean chemical/hormonal? 6-7 mos then we used barrier...we were meaning to try around 5 months or so, but I found out I had 2 vitamin deficiencies (yay preconception full physical) then were too busy, but it worked out! We had some pretty specific timing issues, though, so I wanted to increase my chances by getting my system ready w/o actually being ready to be pregnant (last semester of grad school while working..)
I went off 3 months prior basically because my prescription ran out! *lol* From what I could tell my cycle went back to normal pretty much right away, but it did take us 5 months to conceive.
The plan is to get off about a month before TTC... Nothing to do with our chances, but because we're traveling in December and I want to be able to control my period until then; and it's our anniversary in January, and we have this very good bottle of champagne to share on that night, lol! We'll start TTC right after that I guess, and hope for the best!
I went off the pill in June and we aren't going to TTC til March at the earliest. I'm glad for that, too, because my cycle is just now normaling out. I didn't get my period for 3 months after I went off the pill! I say the sooner the better, it was really awful waiting for my period to come, I can't imagine if I was also wanting to start TTC at that same time.
