    Hey ladies,

So my moms friend wants to host a couples shower for my FI and I. She emailed me today asking if I could give her some dates that would work for us. But I dont know how far inadvance the shower is supposed to be?

How far in advance is typical? I dont want it to be too early or too late?

    Thanks!

I think it depends on your situation. I am having a destination wedding, and I will only be visiting my family over the holidays. I won't see them again until the wedding. So we are having a shower around Christmas time, even though my wedding isn't until next June.

i feel like you can have it whenever you want. i've even been to a shower the day before the wedding, because that's the only time that the bride's mom and aunt were able to make it. that's not my ideal... way too much going on in one weekend for me, but to each her own.

I would say standard is anywhere from 1-3 months before, I did mine 2 months before and that was the date that worked best for everyone.  My SIL had hers in August and her wedding was in Oct and my friend had a shower in May and her wedding was in August.  Go with whatever works best for you and the people you want to be there.

It's whatever works for you.  Someone's throwing me one,  (girls only) a little less than a month before the wedding.  And then someone is throwing us a couples shower about 2 weeks before the wedding!  I know it's cutting it close but I am in grad school and this was ALL that would work.  Just go with what works for you!

I agree, I think typically it is held between 1-3 months before the date but ultimately it depends on your schedule and the key people involved.  Just do what you want! :)
