I’m thinking about having a red shellac manicure in NY next Tuesday before my wedding the next Saturday. Is that too early? And if so, does anyone have recommendations in Charlottesville, VA for good Shellac manicures and pedicures? It would be great to have it last through the honeymoon. I have had them screwed up in the past so I can be a bit particular. Thanks!

@gaucho25: Not at all. I use a similar brand (Organic Nails’ Laquer pro) and it takes over a week for it to show the nail growth. Mine has never worn off, I remove it (after 3 weeks) cause my nails grow and it’s too noticeable.

Thanks! I’d get it the Tuesday before I drive down to the wedding site. I was just worried with all the packing involved, but it sounds like Shellac is pretty tough. Worst that happens is it cracks over my two week honeymoon after.

YES! Go to Nananda Nails in York Place on the Downtown Mall.
When I found shellac, I started trying all the different places that do them. Moxie was the first and they just stopped doing nails completely. Bristles does them, but I wasn’t too pleased with the woman there bashing Nananda. Of course, that sent me right to Nananda…and she’s lovely!
I had my shellac manicure on Wednesday for my Friday wedding and my nails looked great through the honeymoon.
Nananda will do a shellac pedi, but I went to Avina Natural Nails (behind Barracks Road) for my pedi with my bridesmaids and we had a blast. My pedi wasn’t shellac and it was perfect for a couple weeks. 🙂

I recently had a shellac that lasted 4 four weeks and the only reason I had to take it off was because it looked ridiculous with my nails growing out! There are great places in the city, and I definitely think your timeline works for getting them done in NY.
