Hello! Our wedding is June 18th, and we are having the ceremony and reception about an hour and a half away from home – so most of our guests will be traveling to get there. I have been reading that the earliest you should mail invites is 8 weeks, but is it truly bad etiquette to send them earlier? When did you guys mail yours?

we are doing a destination wedding and we mailed ours out 6 months in advance so people could make travel plans and request the time off work– we also did save the dates 1 year in advance…. are you doing save the dates?? most of our family is flying from Wisconsin to our wedding location in Florida.

Our wedding is about 3 hours from us and about half of our guests. The remainder will be coming from all over the country. We mailed our invites Feb. 1 for our May 1 wedding. But, we had a hold on the hotel block that expired in March, so we wanted our guests to have ample time to make their reservations.

I say send them whenever you want, most guests won’t know the proper invititation ettiquette timeline anyways.

let’s see… i sent my invitations at the end of february for my halloween destination wedding -rsvp for june 1st. i was under the assumption that giving people plenty of time to plan for this sort of thing was the best thing to do… but as far as etiquette goes, who knows! 🙂
