Hi all! I’m getting married on May 4, 2013… and have NO idea when I should start to check out florists and order the flowers. I’m on this big productive kick now (i’m a teacher and it’s summer so I have TONS of time on my hands!) and want to get it done now… is it waaaay too early?

I would like to know also! My wedding is June 2013 and am not sure whether to start looking now or wait until the fall.

It just depends on your area. If you’re getting married in a “wedding town”, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t start talking to florists now. I know people who had a florist booked a year in advance.
I’m in Chicago and I waited until 4 months out to talk to florists. That was a mistake…most were booked for September by then.

I’m getting married May 18 and I’m also curious to know! I don’t live in the small town where I am getting married, so I have no idea if they get booked up quickly. I’m going there this weekend so I guess I should just start checking them out.

I’d secure a florist as soon as possible to make sure the one you want is free on your wedding day. When I met witht he florist I ended up choosing, we estimated how mnay tables I would probably have and what kind of flowers I would want, etc. and got an idea of total cost, but then closer to the wedding (I think 1 month out), I gave him final numbers on tables and we confirmed types of flowers, which was good because some flowers were available that usually aren’t that early in the year thanks to a warm winter, so I got daffodils and tulips despite the fact we thought they’d be too expensive when we first met. Then a week before, I saw a sample table and he ordered the flowers.
