That sounds about right. I just ordered my dress last weekend (!!) for 10-16, but haven't done bridesmaids dresses yet.
That sounds about right but I'm all over mine because I don't want to run out of time. We're already down to 9 months! I got my dress back in November and the girls ordered their dresses at the beginning of January.
My dress took 4 months to get in (which is really quick). I ordered in August 09 for my June 10 wedding. I say order your dress ASAP, the more time the better.
BMs: Mine ordered early this month and they're expected to arrive in mid April. The shop owner told me that 4-6 months is standard for BM dresses to arrive.
I'm 10/24 and am in the same boat as you. I am getting a little nervous... my girls didn't LOVE the idea of ordering too early (I had wanted early Feb). Some are trying to lose a few lbs, aren't we all:) so I gave them till April 1 to get me their measurements (all but 1 live out of state)-- do you think that's too late? I guess that's about 6 months out.
Maybe us October brides should push it up a month for a cushion... Miss Cake seems to have the right idea-- more time cant hurt! As a MOH, I had to order my dress in Sept. for an August wedding-- 11 months in advance! Should we do early March?? or even late February!?
David's tol dme to have my Bridesmaids order in April, but some are saying that they might gain weight or something by Oct. What are we supposed to do about that?
I would think definitely NO later than April, in case something goes wrong with the order and also with alterations. I don't know how long David's takes to ship but I know the place I am getting my Alfred Angelo BM dresses from said allow 16 weeks!! Always have them order in their current size in case they don't lose as much as they hope... which is usually always the case with everyone. And if they gain... I think it can be let out a dress size.. my guess is bigger is better than smaller. Easier to take in than let out.

my wedding is 10-10-10 and i was wondering when it is customary to order the dresses? i heard 8 months for bride's dress and 6 months for bridesmaid's dresses. am i right?
