When to order/mail out invites? (aka anyone else taking the Bar...?)

So I think the appropriate time to send the invites is the end of July/August - but I have to take the bar exam, so I want to order and assemble the invites before I start studying, so they can be dropped in the mail right after the exam.  But we have a number of guests coming from the UK/Australia - so I think we might want to send them out even earlier (especially because according to the FI's mom, invites in England go out like, 6mos in advance), like earlier in July.

I'm also afraid that if we order the invites in May, I'll find something in August that I MUST HAVE and be upset that I didn't wait.  Somebody, please, convince me I'm being ridiculous and we can order them early.  (Or DIY them early - and how long will that take, do we think?  A weekend?  Two?)

So 10-10-10 brides, when are you sending out your invites and when is your RSVP date?  Also, how long does it take to get invites done so we order them with plenty of time?

I'm 10-16 but we plan on doing our DIY invitations VERY early. I am taking a long weekend to spend time with my mom and sisters in early April, and we will be tackling the invitations then.  We're planning on doing them within our three day weekend - but they won't be particularly complicated. They won't be sent out until August, but they will be in envelopes ready to go!

my date is at the end of october.  im actually ordering them next month since there's a lot of my plate right now (besides wedding things). the earlier i can get things crossed off the better.

i plan on sending them early July which is 3 months for them to respond and i'm having them respond by sept 3... so perhaps if i still need to send list B invites, i can go ahead and do that.

I've been making mine currently and my family is insisting I send them and request a response back by June 1st for my October 10th wedding. Hoping to find out who really will make the trip to Texas (since everyone is from out of the town) so I can stop stressing about the catering costs.

If STDs aren't a good option for you, I would honestly send out the invites when you can, before the bar. I took it last summer, and really didn't do anything but sleep, eat, go to gym, study. And the gym only because it was the only thing that kept me sane.
