start looking now but all designers have different ordering times.  when i was looking at dresses, i got anywhere from 3 months to 8 months.  if you want to wait until the 2015 styles come out, you should but just be aware of ordering times.

ETA: i got engaged in feb 2013, ordered dress in march 2013, dress came in at end of july and i was ready for my oct 2013 wedding.

It doesn’t hurt to start looking and get ideas about how much time different designers need and what you like and what you don’t like for dresses.

I ordered my dress in June 2013 it arrived in September 2013 for my May 2014 wedding. So I ordered pretty early, but had no issues at all with my dress or fittings.

melly6228:  Do it early! I ordered my dress in November for my September, 2014 wedding. I am so glad I did because the designer sent an incorrect dress twice (one was too short and one was damaged). In all they had to send three dresses until they got it right. This took months after my initial dress came in. I would have been screwed if I hadn’t given myself enough time. You never know if something is going to go wrong.

My dress took 6 months to come, and maybe you will also need time for alterations. Also, dress prices increase after the end of January, when the new styles come. Considering your wedding is in September, I don’t think it would be safe to wait for the 2015 styles.

I would start looking now but not purchase until about 7 – 9 months out.  Styles and feelings change. Since you do have time start looking at dresses that you love and figure out what designers are in your price range or if you will have to save up a bit more for the brand you like.  I love Allure Bridal but the dresses I liked were in the $5k range.  I went with an Augusta Jones that was $2600 and was able to make adjustements to personalize it so it doesn’t look like an off the rack dress.  Also it depends on whether or not you have a vision for the day already or if you are going to plan around the dress.  Some dresses visually fit different venues.  You DON’T have to match your dress to the venue or look but it does give it a cohesive look.

GOOD LUCK!!
